Star Trek: Discovery: Coming Home (2022)
One likable character
Cmdr Reno is about the only breath of fresh air in this episode. I love her sarcasm and her deadpan delivery. Capt Burham cries....again. Everyone is super selfish. The United Earth general commits treason but gets off because the message of "the ends justify the means" is apparently part of "woke" culture now. Stacey Abrams' cameo? Hard pass. Keep modern politics out of our sci-fi escapes!
Chad (2021)
An insult to entertainment
Did the producers secretly green light this to get people to turn off the TV and read more?
John Dillermand (2021)
But....why?
The creator of this show and every executive who green-lit this project and marketed it to children should be put on an EU and TSA no-fly list and barred from being within 250 meters of any school or playground.
If they market it for Adult Swim, or something similar, I have no issue.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
An uphill fight to end the saga on a high note
JJ Abrams had his hands full trying to give this movie the respect it deserved, considering the abysmal state of the franchise after Rian Johnson's disastrous episode. It paid appropriate homage to the original trilogy, which should assuage the classic franchise fans after TLJ left a bad taste in their mouths. Yes, there were still "Mary Sue" elements, and the story arc of Kylo Ren seemed a bit kitschy. However, it was an entertaining and visually stunning 142 minutes.
Aquaman (2018)
Visually stunning but lacking "depth"
Predictable storyline embellished with eye candy (CGI and the leading ladies, Kidman and Heard)
