Welcome Home Nikki Glaser? (2022)
So bad and cringey!
I stumbled on this show when I was ironing so watched it for about 15 minutes. It's so bad! Nikki Glaser isn't funny, the show is boring, and it's so obvious she's just trying to boost her career with a show about nothing. They're making up things to do in order to have a show. She's so insecure and the ex-boyfriend thing. Omg, he must be really hard-up for cash if he's willing to be on this train wreck of a show. It seems like he's never going to get back together with her so she should move on and get a private personal life. The way E is pushing the show is obnoxious too. I'm so sick of the please watch it trailers. I'll be shocked if people purposely watch this show and it does well. It will probably be canceled.
The Gilded Age (2022)
Entertaining but not all great acting
The Gilded Age is definitely entertaining and has beautiful inside sets and costumes. The outside sets and buildings are not very expansive and look somewhat fake. The story line is simple but interesting and the subplots keep your attention. There are many good actors such as Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, and Christine Baranski. Luisa Jacobson as Marian Brook does an ok job but she lacks the depth of talent that her mother, Meryl Streep, possesses. Cynthia Nixon is so fake, especially that voice! Even though her character is kind and I want to like her, she's so annoying that I cringe when she's speaking. She's really bad! Whoever cast her for that role made a big mistake. Surely they could have found someone better. I don't think Taissa Farmiga, as Gladys Russell, is very good either.
It's interesting to see the goings on of the servants too but this show doesn't get nearly as involved in their lives or stories, like Downton Abbey did. That seems like a missed opportunity.
Overall, this show is definitely worth watching but it lacks the A+ acting, dialogue, and scenery of that rare gem, Downton Abbey (excluding Elizabeth McGovern as Cora, who was terrible). If you liked Downton you will probably like The Gilded Age.
Paycheck to Paycheck: The Life and Times of Katrina Gilbert (2014)
It was interesting but depressing
I feel bad for this single mother, Katrina, trying to make ends meet. I know she has her kids to worry about but as an animal rescuer, I found it very sad and upsetting the way she treats the two cats she lived with. In the house with Chris, she kept kicking it outside, and of course it's not spayed so it kept having kittens. I wish someone would have helped her with spaying the cat. At least she found the puppy another home. It's probably better off.
Overall, this documentary was interesting but depressing. It's the way of life for millions of women and that's very depressing too.
I'm Sorry. (2017)
I'm wanted to like it but it's just not that funny.
Andrea is doing a monologue in every show and her fast, loud talking, and TRYING to be funny are extremely annoying. It's all about her and unfortunately she's not very interesting. Her husband barely speaks and the other characters have a hard time getting in a word too. (How is he never clean-shaven? He's a lawyer.) The kid talks baby-talk and no one corrects her. It's irritating.
If you feel there's nothing else on (there's always something better on Netflix), then check it out. Otherwise, skip it. You won't be missing much.
Crawl (2019)
The dog lives! The movie was decent and suspenseful.
I checked to make sure the dog lives before I watched the rest of the movie! It was suspenseful, although very unrealistic, since humans wrestled with alligators numerous times and won. Overall, it was a decent movie and entertaining without being overly gory or really sick. The alligators were so huge and fake looking. It made me never want to be in Florida during a hurricane!
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
This movie is not worth watching.
Time travel is an interesting concept but this movie was poorly executed. It's kind of boring too. Overall it's stupid so don't bother. I fell asleep watching it.
