No better than the 1984 version. Lots more sand, dull as dishwater acting. Lead character has all the charisma of a toilet brush. Nice to see Charlotte Rampling getting a part in this film, she is too seldom seen these days. Overall the film though is boring, dull, its sequence of computer graphic generated images, make the film watchable for its technical achievements, but serve to highlight just how two dimensional all the actors in it, are. I suppose they needed the paychecks, but seriously, none of them shoul
d be proud of their performances in it!

The lure of this film were the stars, Colin Baker, Toyah Wilcox and Julian Sands. The reality of this film is the utterly awful script, terrible special effects, dreadful acting that makes 1 and a half hour seem to drag on for three! Avoid it like ghe plague. Dont throw your £4.99 away on Amazon to watch this rubbish! Terrible, truly terrible - all those that appeared in it should be ashamed of themselves. Awful is as awful does!

Some of the history here is accurate. Some definitely not. I'm not happy about the Antigone character, a weak bit of invention. Also the actress Kasia Smutnik who portrays the older Livia, has a very different accent to that of her younger self, almost Scandinavian and although, she acts well, that accent is so annoying.
I dont feel this is as good as Rome, it all looks a bit cheap and the acting is largely 'B' grade in comparison, though I can see that the paciness of this production chimes well with the 2021 YouTube mentality, short video bite audiences this is aimed at. Its entertaining to binge watch on. I doubt it will win many awards, I enjoyed watching it, but Domina does not enthrall.

Great special effects, boring and pointless eco story line

So the Earth is largely uninhabitable, ecologically unviable for sustaining human life,a team of scouts looking for a new Earth are returning to Earth, little do they know, returning to Earth will kill them. Someone wants to tell them to go back their 'new' Earth before its too late. Throw in a space storm which nearly kills them all , great special effects. That some one who wants to warn the scouts not to return to is nearly dead due to failing kidneys, he's trapped in the arctic, survival chances minimal, he's doomed, he has to transmit a signal to the new earth scouts not to come back, he kinda does, he has the company of a child during his last ditch arctic adventure to find a way of communicating with the new earth scouts, she's doomed too - Nearly everyone dies, we're left with a new Adam and Eve, diversity rules, ok? On a perilous space mission to turn their ship around and begin populating a new Earth. Depressing, boring and irrelevant, why was this movie made? God knows!

1st episode is strangely disconnected, the characters it introduces just don't connect.Did they rehearse together? Henry Thomas is lost, too busy getting his English accent right. Overall characters don't work work, the housekeeper has been transformed into a terrifying Amazon, the cook into a comedy ethnic, the new governess into an edgy neurotic. Too much padding per episode to fill in 'imagined' gaps in the original Turn of the Screw story, from which it is adapted. I did not need to know why Miles was sent home expelled, there was no need to know - yawn! 2 episodes made me lose tge will to live, the remainder might finish me off entirely.

Tragic to see Sir Michael Caine appear in such a lousy movie. Is this poorly scripted effort supposed to be a comedy, a satire, a society commentary, A John Waters tribute? I don't know. As a comedy it is about as funny as smallpox, as a satire it simply does not work, as a social commentary it is offensive! What I have I just tried to watch? I don't really know! What I do know is, this movie stinks! I could not bear to see the ending after I'd wasted 80+ minutes of my life trying to watch this utterly awful concoction.
I've given it 1 star, though it really deserves no stars, but I give it one star for two reasons. 1. The fact that Sir Michael Caine is in it, and 2, the fact that one of the cuts in this film, depicts a row of plastic pink flamingos - clearly a nod to the "Great" John Waters, though a John Waters satire it aint! Avoid this film, dont buy it, don't pay to see it, don't attempt to download it, it is hateful!

Why mince words? This film is RUBBISH! Nearly 1.5 hours of your life wasted goes into viewing this. A truly terrible haunted house film. Wooden acting Boring visualisation. Lousy script. At times you get the impression the DVD has glitched as tge screen features long still shots with minimal movement, except for the movement of eyelids, for example to try and add some life, to what is in effect a 'rotting cadaver' of a film that should never have been released.
It might have worked better if it were captured in atmospheric black and white, only saying, as the total lack of atmosphere in this film and extensive use of long and dull and boring visualizations do not lend themselves well to color photography, a little black and white in the mix may have added atmosphere to It and made it watchable and even cause me to give it perhaps three stars out of 10. This really is a truly lamentable effort at producing a film in the haunted house genre.
