Shazam! (2019)
Amazing movie, with a strong message!
Shazam! is a great example of what a superhero movie should be. Entertaining, accurate, fun and a bearer of a great message.Hats off to Zachary Levi, it's like he was born to play the role, perfectly balancing that immature attitude with wisdom of Solomon. The movie has some darker moments, more than enough to intrigue a watcher, but not so much that they cloud sunny and happy appearance of the titular hero. You won't see many amazing shots like you've seen in Aquaman for example, but they weren't that much needed to be honest. And one thing they should have done better is the last scene, where they missed the chance to tightly connect the DC cinematic universe together.
Aquaman (2018)
Simply a spectacle!
The movie introduces the character in a perfect way, the storytelling and transition between scenes are superb, and exactly in style that a superhero movie needs. The main villain, Orm, was written straight from the source material and brought to screen by stellar performance by Patrick Wilson. Orm is that kind of villain, that you want to hate, but you just can't, he is a major badass and you can see that shred of goodness in him. Supporting villain who completely takes the screen in every scene he is in, Black Manta sets the foundation for his very bright future in this franchise, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II truly does justice to the character. Amber Heard does very well as Mera, you can really see that chemistry between her and Momoa, which results in a great relationship on screen. Willem Dafoe makes a surprisingly good Vulko and Dolph Lundgren is playing a typical Dolph Lundgren character, and of course, he does it just right. Nicole Kidman was good, but missed something, the scenes seemed a little bit too much, or other times too little, not that she didn't do a good job, but the rest of the cast did brilliant, so at least to me, she was a little bit underwhelming. Momoa is definitely the man for the role, he plays Aquaman that you wouldn't want to mess with, but also the one who you'd share a drink with. Throughout the film he transforms, and shows us that he can be much more than a tough, beer loving dude. Can't give it a perfect 10 because of some cheesy scenes , which were put just for the sakes of humor, but even those scenes seem to fill the movie in a good way, so you don't feel bored for a single moment. In the end it's a really fun ride, that will take you through an amazing world, with astonishing visuals, and a great story to hear. The movie sets up the stage for the next instalment in a great way, and takes Arthur to a whole new level, which will be interesting to see in next JL movie.
Arrow: The Ties That Bind (2018)
Good old Arrow.
Every now and then this show delivers a beyond-expectations episode, this was one of those.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
An improved formula!
Before the viewing of this film, I lowered my expectations knowing that majority of sequels are not as good as it's predecessors, but luckily the cast and crew made sure that this sequel is better in every aspect. Deadpool 2 abounds in funny moments, action scenes and importantly emotional ones, which were kind of weak in the first installment. This sequel bring some teachable moments on the table, but not too much, so the core of the movie is still very Deadpool-esque. The humor is similar to that of the first, with couple more pop culture jokes which might be a problem for some viewers, but for the most part they are easily understandable with the basic knowledge of pop culture. Along with well known original cast, we have couple of newcomers who fit in the cast perfectly. Brolin has a lot of screentime and he delivers in each scene. It features very entertaining references and cameos, and has one of the funniest post credits scenes in superhero movies, so be sure to stick around untill the very end. All in all, Deadpool 2 is a movie that can be enjoyable not only for fans of superhero genre, but for all who want to have a laugh while enjoying interesting action scenes.
Justice League (2017)
JL is almost everything you expected it to be!
It says in the summary "JL is almost everything you expected it to be!", and that goes for everyone who grew up watching animated DC shows, hoping that one day they will get to see a live-action portrayal of their favorite superheroes. Driven by nostalgia for simpler days, I went to the cinema and enjoyed every minute of the best team-up ever. Why isn't it a perfect 10 then? Because nothing can compare to those days you spent in front of a TV as a kid, watching JL. But they came very close to it. It's an action packed story about putting together the most famous superhero team in the world, from getting to know each other, to working together to save the world. The tone is lighthearted, permeated with feeling of hope. The movie is full of Easter eggs and big names. Two post-credits scenes just make the viewers excited for the next installments.
