John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
9.5 rounds up to 10
Amazing movie in every sense of the work. More action than any of the other Wick flicks let alone any movie of all time. Great mix of storytelling drama, action, big name actors, soundtrack (omg), cinematic landscapes, combat, weaponry, blood, guts and more. Spectacular performances from all stakeholders including Ian McShane (Winston) who seemed to steal the show in every scene he was in. Donnie Yen was also incredible. I deducted 0.5 stars simply because the limited involvement of Lawrence Fishburne. He was missed. Other than this there are disappointments here. They went all in to produce this one and it is a masterpiece!
Capone (2020)
Tried watching it 3 times and cannot finish it
I love Tom Hardy. I love mob movies. The legacy of Al Capone intrigues me. I tried watching this move on 3 different occasions. I just can't into it. So unfortunate.
Godfather of Harlem (2019)
I wish this series could go on forever
I loved the whole series from beginning to end. I know it was mostly fiction with some non-fiction elements, but this is the exact type of series that I wish could be a couple thousand episodes instead of 20. Excellent cast, cinematography, storyline, character depth, suspense, drama, action, and romance all wrapped into one!
Dune (2021)
Insanely awesome film
A genre unlike anything I've ever seen. It's got action, Sci~Fi, drama, amazing scenes, sounds, some very dark moments, it's quite difficult to describe. This film takes movie making to entirely new heights.definitely recommend 3DBox Ultra AVX with motion seats. Enjoy!!
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Great film.
Even though I love the mob movies genre, I actually never watched the Sopranos. Odd? Yes. I like movies and not TV. This film had it all. A great story, great characters, twisting plots, and also excellent cinematography. I rated Casino and Goodfellas between 9 and 10 respectively, and I give Saints Of Newark a solid 8. So if you are reading reviews to see if they can sway you to watch this film. Yes! Watch it and enjoy!
F9 (2021)
The most unrealistic of the entire franchise
Huge disappointment. Toretto all of a sudden has a brother in John Cena. Bad guy whole way through instantly becomes hood near the end. Terrible storyline. Producers should be ashamed. Pathetic excuse of a big budget film.
El Chapo (2017)
Awesome series
I haven't been a big fan of many TV series in my days but El Chapo series were magnificent. Very few dull moments, spectacular acting and cinematography. The story line is absolutely incredible. My only pet peeve is that the male gay make out scenes seems to get pushed on us very forcefully. They are definitely more graphic and lengthy than any of the male-female scenes which leads me to think that it was someone's agenda to wedge these seemingly every episode. Other than this, I still give it 9/10
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Great movie so glad I went a saw it
The story line is fast, the scenes are amazing, there is action, tears shed, and a great story. Was enough material in there that could have been expanded into two more movies not just one. But those familiar with the saga can follow along just fine. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews. Go and see it!
The Irishman (2019)
A must see
If you like The Godfather. If you liked Goodfellahs. If you liked Casino, that would make this movie a must see for you. The acting of all cast members was phenomenal. Great story. Intense scenes. So glad I went to see it!
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
Awesome awesome movie.
Great story, realistic plot, fascinating scenes, especially when she woke up
For the first time. I would have rated it 10 but there were a couple poorly done CGI scenes. But other than this I want to watch it again. Also happy to mention that Chris Waltz actually acted quite well and didn't seem like a narcissistic jerk this time around.
The House That Jack Built (2018)
A great film. Must be watched in its entirety.
I'm glad I didn't allow the reviews, tomatoes scores etc deter me from watching this masterpiece. It's the trailer that hooked me to watch it. This definitely was not my type of film, but I enjoyed it tremendously. It is seriously entertaining, some very sick storylines and comical at the same time. And just whe you think the movie is coming to a close, there's an amazing dynamic shift that transcends into the grand finale. Bravo!
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
If you want your child to think the F word and the word Porn is okay to use in their vocabulary, bring them to this movie
Being a Spiderman fan for life, the movie was okay, I rate a 5 out of 10. At first I was happy they didn't show the spider scene. We've all seen it too many times. I was beginning to think I was in for a good movie. But, the storyline was plain, it want very exciting at all. There were some very poor spots, for example when Michael Keaton was driving the car and figured out that Parker was Spiderman. Great actor with a terrible script. I won't discourage anyone to go and see it, other than parents with children under 13. The movie makes the F word a fashionable word with phrases like What the _____ as the last phrase of the movie. I should not have brought my child. He kept asking me what the word Porn meant.
Miracles from Heaven (2016)
Best movie I've seen since E.T.
This is a movie you can take your whole family to, or just take your loved one. I didn't view it as a religious as all. Rather a true story that we compelling enough to make it to the screen. The acting was amazing as well as the cinematography. This movie reminded me that there are still movies that can be made that touch your heart while equally entertaining. Its about time for a movie like this to come along. There was a point were I was tearing up and I looked behind me and noticed the reflecting light off of the tears of every single person in the theater. So get ready, it will happen to you too. You won't be able to control your emotions. Doubt it? I dare you. Go see it. Enjoy!
Exposed (2016)
Glad I didn't see the reviews before I watched it. I might have missed out on this excellent film.
The "popular" rating system on movies is something that lets me down from time to time. This movie was an excellent use of my time. Very thought provoking, never one single dull moment. I am so glad I didn't look at the reviews otherwise, I might not have watched it. Seems to me that most of the people who rate movie ratings are comparable to top 40 music music. Menu did an excellent job and I totally see why he took this role. Great movie! I will let you know that is it a crime drama. No shootouts or explosions or and stunt men required. The director of this film introduces a new style of story telling that I have seen before. Would watch it again. Bravo.
