Superman (1978)
OG comic book movie
While I'm an avid comic book and subsequent comic book movie lover, I never had the change to watch this OG. And I'm sad I didn't, because this is an excellent movie, and all that come after it, should be thankful for its blueprint.
Granted, I'm not a big Superman fan, to me he always is a bit boring, but that comes with the territory when you're nearly invincible. And what I really liked about this iteration is that we see him from the beginning, and see him learn how to be the man we all know and love.
Cast wise is this movie stacked. With Gene Hackman & Marlon Brando in supporting roles this is an actors movie in the first place. I also loved the performance of the late Christopher Reeve, he is both confident as Superman, and a neurotic wreck as Clark Kent. All in all I'm really glad I've finally watched this one!
The Flash (2023)
I'm glad the DCEU is ending
While I do have a subscription to my local theater, I refused to pay money to see this movie. Not only because I've expected a low quality movie, but I also couldn't support this movie because of the recent behavior of the lead, and in the end I'm glad I didn't waste money or the extra time to this movie.
Let's step aside the troubling things Ezra Miller did, I also never really liked their portrayal of the speedster Barry Allen. Maybe because the CW series was a great introduction to the character for me (I'm not a big DC guy), or maybe the character doesn't really work for me in the DCEU.
Just to say a few positive things, I really liked Sascha Calle as Supergirl, and the return of the legend Micheal Keaton. And Jeremy Irons as Albert was also great.
I'm glad I've watched the movie, so I can check it off my list for 2023, and after this review to never think about it again!
