Mayans M.C. (2018–2023)

MASTER STORY TELLING

Mayans stands on its own and although the MC played 2nd fiddle to the S. O. A. In its previous TV life it has managed to morf into its own success story.

Many things are not what or who they seem and I'm confident we are going to see an end to the series that will leave as welled. The story of who EZ really is and what his deal's all about will probably shock us all.

Mayans deserves much more credit & recognition then it has to this point and hopefully goes down in the books as a greater story then has been it's praise so far.

Kurt Sutherland is masterful at showing a world few ever see and have only heard about, his creativity in making people who should be despised human & vulnerable without appearing weak is his strong suit.

65 (2023)

Failed on most levels

It was hard to connect to Adam Drivers character as a husband & father, so little time or effort was put into the development of who he was as a person in the opening scene and almost zero as to who he was a space traveller.

Even less effort was put into who actually Koa was.

The writing was horrific and acting worse!

I can't imagine who thought Adam Driver was right for this role but it bad casting to say the least.

Any other number of actors or even a few actresses could have done so much more for this role, and dialogue, good or bad, would not have been a necessity.

A lot of potential existent with the screen play and it was all lost from beginning to end, the only saving grace is it was shot well with good visual, and audio effects.

Battle Los Angeles (2011)

Puts you in the battle...

It's not shot like the typical apocalyptic invasion movie. Has the feeling of an imbedded media person following the Marines into battle.

The action is paced perfectly considering the time line and all the warfare is believable.

There's no over the top silliness or comedic atmosphere here...it's all in battle Los Angeles!

After 11 years I think a sequel would be fair game to see what became of the lead Marines and those nasty aliens weather it's LA or some other city that was invaded.

Let's be honest this isn't meant to be a blockbuster or award winning movie, but it's loads of good Hollywood movie magic.

This is a mess from the very beginning, no substance or consideration to the 40 plus years of hard core fans that stood by to be disrespected like this.

Michael as a character deserved a better send off then this and his loyal fan base certainly did also.

Everyone involved in the making of this film in front of and behind the camera should be ashamed of signing off on it.

While it appears ol' Mike isn't coming back from this one based on the finale I would suspect he wouldn't want to anyway after this smorgasbord of a mess!

If you just have to see it be prepared to ask yourself what the hell just happened!

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Worth every second of the 36 years since Top Gun.

This movie delivers on all levels and does so flawlessly without having to fill in much of what occurred between then & now.

Now let's get to the true star of Top Gun Maverick, the in flight scene's...WOW, TRULY INCREDIBLE!

Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

Seems they took a page out of the last Fast movie but with out dinosaurs going into space!

The whole thing is a mess from start to finish with way to many unnecessary characters and sub-plots that make no sense.

You can always spot a Canadian production a mile (km) away. Poor script and poorer acting.

Nothing about this Ice Road Truckers title rip up is remotely interesting, avoid going through the ice with quick thawing mess!

Moonfall (2022)

This is a special effects extravaganza after all it's what Roland does.

But the acting and writing is the worse garbage ever!

The story goes off the rails fast with a totally bizarre proxy for why the moon goes whacky...OMG who in Hollywood thought this nonsense up!

Despite the special effects I had enough of one of the most unbelievable theories about the that big cheese in the sky!

Halloween Kills (2021)

Spectacular

HK is beyond anything fan's could have wished for.

We witness a MM so focused on his mission of killing that it easy to forget he's psychotic.

His quarry of victims (and there are many) are no match for 40 years of built up rage.

Superbly written with a well paced story that is plausible pitting strong character's against an overwhelming & determined evil.

Cry Macho (2021)

Didn't make my day!

Clint Eastwood will undoubtably go down as the greatest Hollywood legend of all time .... but this won't ad to that legacy.

The movie took 30 years to bring to the big screen and Eastwood would have made a impact doing it at 71 or maybe even 81, but at 91...NO!

I gave him a pass on "The Mule" but not this time Clint.

Dazed and Confused (1993)

Oh the high school memories

This gem is a trip down memory lane. This certainly wasn't ever high school in the 70's but an accurate picture of high school life 9 through 12th grade.

The sound track fits the narrative perfectly and the actors for the most part seem like the age their portraying.
