Centigrade (2020)
Not good.
Very frustrating film. No attempt to try and escape from the car for a month, and having to endure 20 minutes of a screaming baby. If they'd used their initiative, they'd have been out of that car in about 10 mins, and could have walked down the road to the hotel, for a nice coffee and and a full English breakfast . . .
The Mandalorian (2019)
This is the way . . . .
This is what Star Wars is all about. The Mandalorian is awesome, and I have watched all of the episodes back to back (twice) I can't get enough of it.
Great storylines and characters, in the Star Wars universe we all know and love. 10 out of 10.
The Kingdom (2007)
A decent film
I enjoyed the film, and particularly the action/fight sequences. Sadly I struggled to make it to the end as I suffer from motion epilepsy and the shaky camerawork was torture for me. It could have been so much more spectacular if filmed normally. Don't know why these directors have to do that. Glad I made it to the end but would not be able to watch it again.
Pearl Harbor (2001)
Don't listen to the negative reviews !
Watched Pearl Harbor last night. What a great film. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it's just over 3 hours long you immerse yourself in the love story of the main characters while the Japanese plan their attack. It all leads to the climax of the film (the attack on pearl harbour) The special effects were absolutely amazing showing the true intensity of the attack, and you begin to sympathise with the American troops who really are caught completely off guard. Trying to deal with the aftermath of the attack is almost unimaginable, and particularly the main stars who have now become trapped in the love triangle whilst they're facing possible death at the hands of the Japanese. Definitely worth watching. Don't listen to the negative reviews. I guess some of the viewers wanted to see the attack on Pearl harbour only. In my opinion that's the whole reason for the underlining love story. You see it unfold, and more importantly how the attack changes everything.
Elstree 1976 (2015)
A film that had so much potential but failed to deliver.
As a lifelong Star Wars fan I sat down and watched this DVD with great anticipation but other than a few positives it unfortunately fell way below my expectations and was very disappointing. As the name of the title suggests ..... Elstree, I was hoping to get an insight into the studio and get a better understanding of what it was like in 1976 working on the original film set with some behind the scenes original footage / photos etc but it didn't offer that. Having said that, I appreciate that the film was focusing mainly on the original extras and supporting actors as opposed to the studio itself and listening to each of their interviews there was some interesting stories particularly Dave Prowse but overall it just seemed to drag on and sadly became quite boring. Most of what they had to say was about what they did before been in Star Wars and what they did after. It including their appearances in the conventions which was one of the few highlights. This film had so much potential but I feel it was simply put together cheaply and in a hurry which is such a shame. If you are a genuine Star Wars fan you will find some parts of it interesting but in my opinion it's not one of the best documentary on Star Wars you will ever see.
Rovers (2016)
What a let down
I saw this new sit com advertised on sky and watched it with great anticipation. In my opinion it was a complete load of rubbish. I was waiting for something funny to happen and some clever dialogue but sadly it didn't deliver at all. Someone asking for a cheese toasted sandwich and the barmaid being reminded to ask them if they want tomato sauce or not is simply not funny or entertaining. Having an in depth discussion about a black baby is also not funny in any way whatsoever. And referring to someone as Sloshing it about ? When you look at the skills of John Sullivan who wrote only fools and horses this sitcom insults your intelligence. I was led to believe that a sitcom pilot episode must tick all of the boxes and grab the viewers interest. You should have a real good laugh and look forward to the next episode. I feel like I wasted 30 mins of my life and one episode was enough for me. Don't waste your time. Put only fools and horses on instead.
