Lifeless
6 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Watched the full series. After 5 episodes all I could say about it was that the people in it were soulless. Finishing the remaining episodes, it's not hard to conclude that these are children who develop infatuations in minutes. Infatuations that create life altering decisions further down the road. Not saying it can't happen, but every story arc was similar and ridiculous. Why did I stick with it? I like poorly acted movies for fun sometimes and just couldn't understand the motivations of any of the characters... There were no rational people. These were supposedly "cops". Knowing cops, these weren't cops but hollowed out meme's. Writers suck.

creepy and slow
17 November 2023
This is a good representation of how out of touch people in hollywood are to everyone else. Allison's assets and a cast of people who have been very interesting in other roles can't save this pile of garbage. Guessing it's self indulgent but completely uninteresting. The depiction that all these older 30's and 40's people have no understanding of the world around them is the disconnect. Creepy doesn't equal funny and there is literally nothing funny about anything in this movie. Also, all the women have sketchy skin in this. Either the makeup sucks or they need a dietary change with more saturated fats and no seed oils. Not kidding.

Bridges shines... for awhile
11 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Two or three thoughts: Gay guys can't write women. Zoe character is so inconsistent it's has to be a parody of Freud's "women are hysterical" studies and doesn't add anything meaningful to the experience of watching the plot unfold. Every story a female engages in about "herself" is right out of women's studies 101. Complete and utter hash.

Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow faithfully transfer their characters to the screen. Jeff Bridges is interesting and believable as an aging but dangerous character.

Haven't read the source material yet, but it's probably safe to assume, some characters don't exist there because they don't fit in the story very well. Typical Hollyweird. It's a shame because this could have been magnificent. Each episode is harder to watch as it devolves into intersectional stupidity.

Inda strikes again.... out of touch with reality
18 February 2023
I haven't read the source material from the author of the books but I've experience the TV writer on another series "the rookie" and to say she's sloppy, uniformed and offensive is putting it lightly.

So many details that are ridiculous and the constant use of black stereotypes to emphasis blackness is awful. Reminds me of the first Black Panther movie in it's triteness.

Lanier is about 30 miles from Atlanta, it's not "haunted", not sure why the GBI wouldn't just drive home in the same day... 30 miles. All the black women are fearful of all the bad white people despite all being officers of the law.

In the end, this is a POS and I will likely stop watching and never likely to read the source books either. Could have grown the Faith character, made it fun and interesting but choose stupid intersectional tropes that are meaningless and add nothing to story or characters. Makes them weak and ineffective.

Guillermo lacks passion
15 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Good songs. No mirth or passion. Didn't understand the whole italian fascist theme which detracted from the true message of pinocchio imo. Won't go out of my way for any Del Toro movie again. Dude's past it.

His reliance on supernatural elements to finish the film was ludicrous. We've seen this in several of his films where the easy writing choice is the choice. Pacific Rim blew and shape of water should have been flushed.

I gave this a 5 as the animation is good, some elements were good, I liked the songs and Jepeto was the only heart felt character. Ewan McGregor was wasted as the cricket.

Dumb on steriods

Lots of "ideas" aka Hollywood stealing various aspects of other semi-popular shows and investing them in pretty young woman thinking this makes them interesting. It all goes completely down hill from there. I guess it could have been entertaining if morons weren't writing it. It's obvious groupthink in those creative sessions. Yuck.

Could have been darkly fun...
12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why? 2020 was the year of the victim in hollyweird. Why tell a good story when you can fane cleverness telling intersectional tales of woe. It's really turns stupid when the monsters are the victims. Ridiculous.

Just read the book
1 March 2022
Weird casting choices just highlight how poorly this movie was executed. Not a purest and sometimes surprised by a movie's interpretation to a work of fiction. This was the no interpretation interpretation. Love the character of Ender and just glad they didn't try to do Speaker for the Dead too. That would have been a mess with this cast and director.

Geesh....
19 February 2022
Holy cow... mindless pap. JSA doesn't know what to do next because the writers are witless hacks. It doesn't have to be great to be good and this shouldn't be rocket science. Plenty of formulas that work with "super hero" stories and they have chosen mindless wandering in the desert. Not to mention the janitor doesn't appear to be in any episodes and he was interesting with lots of potential backstory and timeless tales to be told. There should be a little slow down after the events of last season but the overall level of the JSA and key people around them should be higher than it is. Still watching, but yikes. Would like to see the pro in professional in these writers but they're too busy writing pieces on dating and dating short men...

Piling on isn't fun and neither is this show
7 December 2021
Gads... Take stupid + irrational add intersectional (which feels redundant to stupid and irrational)... Let's call it stupid + irrational squared to not offend those who embrace intersectionality no matter how stupid and irrational that is and you have the writers for this show. Katee Sackoff walking around in her underwear for the first ten minutes while everyone else is dressed might be the best thing in the show... BTW, why is the woman wondering around in her underwear kind of sexist? There's ageism too. Really adds to the story... not. OK, I just hate it, not worth watching. Not disappointed just stunned that it got made in the first place.

OMG zoned out progressives are hideous...
29 November 2021
Who doesn't like Nathan Fillion? Right? The showrunners have ample opportunities to put together great stories with a good cast. The constant pounding of self righteous left wing gibberish about the intersectional stack of pain and victimhood is unwatchable. The use of the "ethics" professor to espouse radical woke views as if these are the ethical position is an affront to rational people everywhere. Stop it children.

Underwhelming in every way
17 October 2021
Stupid on every level. Fights are entertaining, but would rather watch any bad 70's chop socky movie over this poorly written, ludicrous story. Several of the characters are so unrelateable it makes me wonder if the writers, director or actors have ever met another person. Not worth the time to write this review except that somehow this is getting a 7.9 at this moment which cannot be real. IMDB should be embarrassed shilling for this mess.

This is not your fault... gag
14 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Every woman is a driven, above average professional. BS characterizations of "fly over country", all the men are a holes, the protagonist is an infantile nearly 30 something male, his sister can throw and tantrum and hit someone but it's OK cause he's cheating on his wife with her... Ugh. So looking forward to how it all shapes up. /s Am sure the world will right itself as soon as only women are in charge. Never read the source material so can't speak to how deviant this may be.. except that Hollyweird is completely bereft of understanding the true nature of humanity and the actual human condition.

Chalamet is a star
12 September 2021
This would have been a 9 if only the writers could have left the self righteous, know it all prig at the end of the movie out. A real Tombstone moment but worse. Can't go to far wrong by sticking to the tale woven by the Bard, but woke idiots abound in Hollyweird. There is NO value in their "perspective" on the human condition or conflation of standards 100's of years ago with standards today.

Don't hate it
20 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The actual "ghostbusting" is given short shrift but I hope they flesh these out more as they move away from trying to work in all things intersectional. Good cast, poor writers and editors. Pretty standard for most things coming out of media these days.

Biggest flaw is having Levy's character act like a "wronged woman" for having engaged in a relationship with her married ex-boss. Anyone with any sense of right and wrong, understands the only wronged woman is the wife of the man cheating with another woman who knows that he is married. Not sure why they think this is a basis for making this a "strong" person/woman. She never once says, "it was the wrong thing to do" or "it was my mistake". They should stop bringing it up. Her mom never says boo when she mentioned it either. This is not female empowerment and it ain't all the dude's fault. Will weary of this sooner than later. People are responsible for their life decisions, especially things like this that harm other people.

The US version is WAY better
16 July 2021
Laura Bach has all the charm and charisma of paint drying.. Senseless, know nothing woman detective who somehow needs to be promoted to working a large complicated case of multiple serial murders. Not worth watching the first episode. I gave it four stars because it spawned the far superior US version from Glen Morgan of Space: Above and Beyond. Glen knows how to make a good story and fascinating characters.

Dumb writing
16 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Talk about taking the easy way out... Man bad... Woman victim... even the one who creates the cover up, because it would have ruined her something something because man bad... Guess I shouldn't have expected more, it would have been pretty easy to make this payoff without falling into the gender studies/intersectionality gap

What BS.

Why isn't anyone blaming the Director???
12 July 2021
It was pretty apparent that this movie would descend/condescend too wokeness given the director that helmed it... CGI may have been used as a cover for the poor writing and directing, but ultimately the studio and producers put this worthless woe is me all women are victims POS in the chair.. deconstructionism is thoroughly destructive.

Semi-woke which is a fully bankrupt approach to human understanding. Could have been a good movie on the damage relying on a sole element of science can do to society, people and things in general. Not a good series.

Old tropes and stupid rants
16 June 2021
It's been done better.... way better. Acting is fine, writing is typical progressive tripe. Just another marginal, lifeless distraction from the real world and the noose everyone wants to put around their necks. Ask someone who watches this 2 weeks later what it was about and they won't even remember it..

Slow, no meaningful plot, assumes all viewers are idiots
19 May 2021
Watch a lot of foreign film and appreciate the different sensibilities some bring to the table... This movie doesn't have a sensibility and isn't worth the 45 minutes I gave it to make a point. Your call, but this isn't worth anyone's time. If you want to watch any good Chinese movies, Yimou Zhang, has made several that are worthwhile... Hero is exceptional. Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles is very good as well in a completely different way.

Drama for drama's sake...
2 May 2021
Like most things produced for TV these days, the acting is good. The rest is idealized fantasy without much merit. Can't expect most who watched this to do so with any skepticism, their minds are no longer their own having been subsumed by mass media, headlines without merit and cancel culture. The rating for this show is laughable. Thank goodness they created a character to save the day instead of sticking to the actual events so everyone could feel good about mass psychosis of intersectionalism. This show is entertaining if you put aside any understanding of human nature, especially human nature under totalitarian rule. What happened in Chernobyl was a tragedy. It would have been better to tell that tale and any real heroism that may have occurred to avoid greater catastrophe and suffering.

Not really a six but for old times sake...
9 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This writer may be the worst thing to happen to a good book series. It doesn't make sense why every main plot now devolves to children screaming about their victimhood and the MURDER of BILLIONS... Yes, billions, not millions like every character keeps repeating. No one should care about Inaros, his son or the previous relationship with Naomi because they did a crappy job of telling the story. Honestly, "belters" just aren't that interesting now that Miller is out of the equation. This goes for the next episode double. Read the books. This is schlock.

Flushed years of character building for WOKE
3 March 2021
What do you get when you use cheap plot twists and rely on the worst character in the Marvel movie universe to sum up the effort of millions of hours, passion and execution? This dumb ending. It would have been better to leave it with half the universe dead than to create this tripe. Just one person's opinion. So many irrational elements, it isn't worth explaining to those without an iota of sense. It's Hollyweird's salute to the inane world they think we all want to live in.
