Heroes Reborn: Project Reborn (2016)
Thrilling end of chapter - well done
Well done - thrilling conclusion ending this chapter of Heroes Reborn.
I wasn't expecting much from this series following a viewing of the "Dark matters" mini series. Which I felt was to under developed and suffered from poor production values. In contrast Heroes Reborn is well produced and looks good with a cast all delivering satisfying performance's. The story line follows a similar arc to the original 1st series in as much as the world will end if not for the intervention of the heroes. While a clutch of "Evos" lead by an ill fated savior use their abilities to help navigate a future where they survive an extinction level event. Very exciting stuff. I was expecting to be disappointed with a meandering story and poor special effects and character development. Thankfully I was intrigued and captivated every week, much like the original series, it kept me eager for what would happen next. Many of my peers seem to be burdened with an inability to let go of the past and, just enjoy whats new, be it the updated story arc of an ever growing sci-fi franchise or new musical trends. When something is new and is to be enjoyed as such, why diminish its value by critically assuming it isn't like the old ones enough or is too different to be good. Heroes reborn has its flaws and weaknesses but non are apparent enough to sink this ever enjoyable series. Thankfully the boring lack of cadence tarnishing the last of the original series is nothing but a memory now. I hope this series has the popular appeal of the original series and can bring a thrilling involvement to many fans new and old all over the world. I believe the dexterity of potential in Heroes Reborn will be a fantastic platform for new story arc's and character development, after all every generation needs a Hero to reflect against. How else is the zeitgeist to dream of future untold!
Jupiter Ascending (2015)
Thought provoking rags to riches tale, putting into perspective the value of life
I saw this film in the Milton Keynes Cineworld 4DX Super screen with a 3D viewing...Wow factor set to out of this world.
The story is wonderfully imagined, set on many worlds with awesome space scenes showing beautiful star ships and galactic scale.
The Plot and character development is very familiar and really is a missed opportunity to add some intelligence to what is in many ways a thought provoking rags to riches tale, putting into perspective the value of life. Hopefully we'll get a follow up delving into that universe and it's limitless possibilities.
Needless to say I was impressed with what in my view makes for great movies. This film has immense repeat value because its simple and looks good while being exciting.
My friends and I opted to see the film in the new Cineworld 4DX super screen with 3D and it really did feel like we had gone on an American theme park ride. The seats moved in a very articulated manner complementing the motion of the screen and had jolts and impacts felt through the chair like getting hit in the back or landing on the floor. The weapons fire that missed could be felt whizzing past my head and the explosions enhanced by the bright flashes from the 4DX auditorium. When the action hits the river, splashes are felt with drops of water, I expected it, still surprising and effective. The fragrance element worked a treat too. Linking what you see with what you can smell like the flowers when a character walks through them or the smell of action - burning metal. Smoke or mist mirrored with smoke machines by the screen and around the seats creates a very immersed experience, like being in the film to a degree.
Jupiter Ascending was the best introduction to the 4DX technology. Clearly demonstrated a level of experience that is sure to become a major success with the right films. I was looking forward to this film last year and, it was worth the wait. The 4DX Super screen with 3D was quite expensive but, immersing and effective so it felt satisfying with such a visually stunning film.
This film is a great date movie, fun for families, perfect for sci-fi junkies, thought provoking and good looking.
I can only hope you have at much fun as we all did.
