Pyewacket (2017)
Nothing original
If you have seen enough horror movies like me you'll realize there's absolutely nothing new in the storyline, characters or the taking. There's absolutely no scary or jump scenes. Slow burn - leads to nothing .
Supposed twist in the end is that the girl probably has a rare delusional disorder called Capgras syndrome. This part was just rushed and I'm not sure if everyone gets it. This has been a subject of multiple other well made horror/ suspense thrillers. Sorry I'm not impressed !!
I would recommend watching Spider (2002) if you are looking for a better thriller based on this disorder ...
Rangamarthanda (2023)
Self pity and Gaslighting
The story doesn't make any sense. Ranga Rao's character seems like a toxic narcissistic parent , yet we are supposed to sit through his delusional distortion of events where he sees himself as a victim.
The whole movie revolves around guilt tripping characters around and the viewer to feel sorry for the main character and are gas lighted from reality.
The movie pretends to be some sort of great wisdom from the life of a misfortuned great artist , but in reality it's just an epitome of his childishness. Ranga Rao had no right to not let his children see their mom one last time after her death.
