Tanin no kao (1966)
Brilliant psychological drama
Brilliant film that could be passed as a modern day masterpiece. Every dialogue in the movie holds a lot of weight. It reflects the internal conflict of the protagonist played by Tatsuya Nakada. The protagonist is a burn victim and hides his face by bandages. His insecurities (or harsh truths of society?) alienates him from his wife until he finds a way to add some spice by living a double life.
Also, The cinematography and stylism of the film is captivating. The set especially the doctor's set is really well created.
Kaze ga tsuyoku fuiteiru (2018)
Refreshing anime with mature and dynamic characters
I started watching this anime because honestly there was nothing to watch. Anime were filled with isekai, harem in the fall. It caught my attention as it was produced by Production IG(same as Haikyuu,Psycho Pass etc). Watch the 1st episode and it looked okay, there weren't any cliched character and typical friendship troupes as we see in sports anime.
So, I watched episode 2 and then 3 and then I knew I loved this anime. So people dont forget the 3 episode rule, watch till episode 3 and then decide for yourself.
About the anime- Beautiful aesthetics, beautiful ost and beautiful characters. Everyone was unique and they felt so real. The biggest character development would be of Kakeru(the protagonist) who was an angry and detached college newbie. He developed into a matured and calm person. Also, Haiji Kiyose(the 2nd protagonist) beautifully ties the whole cast together. He has a seemingly impossible goal( which you will learn as you watch the series)
Also the rest of the cast Shindo, Musa,Yuki,Nico,King,Hana,Twins and Prince were amazing.
There aren't any cliched anime tropes, so please give it a try. It is my personal favourite anime of the year. It is a visually pleasing and a heart touching story which is quite simple yet powerful.
Baccano! (2007)
A unique storytelling set in different times but comes together as one story
This was one the best series I have seen, not just in anime but altogether. SUCH interesting characters, and the main characters Isaac and Miria are a bunch of lovable idiots. I almost fell laughing, they were hilarious. The animation is great,go watch it. The voice acting is just awesome, not just random dubbing, its great. So,it starts of in 1700s as a group of alchemists are granted an elixir of immortality by the frigging Devil himself. The now immortal group unanimously decides to keep this a secret and destroy the elixir; but one of them ,Slizard Quates opposes. Many years later again till 1930 the story is continued in Manhattan, and the chaos begins. The story is told in intervals of different time periods. Just watch till the last episode. There is a lot of blood, gore and violence. Its has elements of dark satirical comedy. A unique and great watch!
Mr. Robot (2015)
Pretentious dialogues and philosophy, fight club wannabe with boring twist
I started watch Mr. ROBOT solely because of its good ratings. And to my most utter dismal this is the worst highest rated show I have watched. Such high ratings. I was prepared to get bound-struck but unfortunately I was disgusted. OKAY,the mood is good, pilot was also kind of good, but as soon as the show progressed it became boring. All they show is the junkie protagonist tripping and blabbing schmatzy philosophies. And the plot holes and impossible things are a lot. The characters are not all interesting,so dull. And why so much low light dude?? The main char speaks all kinds of pretentious craps. It's the same old, same old. I have seen better with lower ratings. This was out of the blue. But different people different choices so can try it out.
Game of Thrones: The Children (2014)
Best season finale till the time
THE CHILDREN is undoubtedly one of the best episodes. It does have a greater thrill and impact than the others. The children has many unanswered questions and the thrust for more. I had the the quench for more after watching it. Direction is really good,CGI was good, exceptional plot and of course the acting. The actors were great, especially Peter Dinklage. The ending was enthralling. It opened the path for new story lines. SPOILERS Tyrion's dramatic encounter with Shae and Twyin and fleeing off with Varys. Stannis defeating mance rayder's army of wildlings. Bran stark finally getting the whole three eyed raven thing, well at last. I think he might have a bigger role in the seasons to come. Only disappointment was daenerys, it needs to sort out her priorities quick. The ending was visually beautiful. It gave a sense of positive feel in the corrupt, assaulting and brutal world of westeros. The back stories are also interesting. The stories and myths from past are also told here which might give some clue to the actual rising of the empire of white walkers and the inevitable danger to the land of westeros.
Overall the episode was intense, exciting and pretty dramatic. It did justice to the season. THIS season was much interesting than the other seasons,it had a lot of elements. New characters who are likable, and reduced amount of nudity and gore.
