Eye in the Sky (2015)
Excellent film!!!! If you love movies...don't miss it.
Eye in the Sky is a nail biting thriller...One of the best films i have watched in recent times. Very intriguing plot where-in a colonel (played excellently by actress Hellen Mirren) has to strike a missle in a house which has 3 most wanted ppl on their hitlist and are from a terror group called Al Shabaab . Also she has to ensure the impact of the strike is minimal as there are other civilians around the place...... Lot of political implications and difficulties arise when she has to negotiate with seniors and the other bureaucrats as they hesitate to give her clearance for the mission. The script, photography, editing and the direction is just top class and the film manages to keep u edge of the seat till the end. Few films manage to achieve this feat...i can only remember the last film which managed to do this- Captain Phillips. Performances are also excellent in the film. Hellen Mirren who plays a senior Colonel is brilliant. She suits the role completely. There is also Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad fame and he is superb. There is also Barkhad Abdi (the pirate leader from Captain Phillips). he plays his part well....Lastly Alan Rickman as the Lt. General was fantastic. The dialgoue which he says in the end will make you break into an applause. Eye in the Sky is one of the best thrillers. Its tense, gripping and shocking. Superb Stuff. If you love movies...Don't miss this at any cost.
Waiting (2015)
Wonderful movie!! Must watch for the excellent performances of Naseer & Kalki
this is a wonderful movie which deserves a watch for the outstanding performances of Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki. The movie shows how to 2 ppl dealing with similar kind of tragedy develop a bond of friendship, despite having huge age difference... The scenes between Naseer and Kalki are the highlight of the film and its executed quite well by Debutant Director Anu Menon....There are also light moments, F word is used lot of times. The film moves slowly in 2nd half & becomes a bit repetitive but it doesn't dampen our interest... Naseer is at the top of his game. He is the master of acting IMO. He is a complete natural and you feel for him in this film. So does Kalki. She has given her career best performance. Rajat Kapoor is as usual sublime and impresses with his screen presence. Overall WAITING is worth a watch bcoz of its honest attempt to tell a beautiful story & it has wonderful acting from the 2 leads.
The Jungle Book (2016)
Flawless, beautifully shot and remarkable CGI- Jungle book is movie with a soul!!!!
Hats off to director Jon Favreau, screenplay writer Justin Marks and the CGI visual effects team for giving us probably the best version of Jungle book we could ever get to see on the big screen.....Its flawless, stunning, epic and a brilliant adaption of Rudyard Kiplings's fascinating story. The film is a visual feast, every frame looks stunningly beautiful, be it the waterfalls, mountains, trees and above all the different kinds of animals. Its really hard to believe that its all CGI...Its indeed a remarkable achievement by the team...All this results in pure magic on the big screen. The characters of Jungle book bring back the nostalgia which we grew up watching on doordarshan- be it Bagheera, SherKhan, Baloo, even the song simple bare necessities is included (which i used to love so much) smile emoticon Mowgli played by Neel Sethi is very endearing and is cast perfectly. Dubbing done for all animals is perfect and it adds life to the film. Background score is also very good. Action sequences are thrilling-the scene where Mowgli is captured by the monkeys- that whole sequence is just brilliant. This movie is one epic adventure which ur kids the kid inside you will enjoy to the fullest. I feel its humanly impossible to make a better version from what Jon Favreau and team has offered us.. Very rarely we get to see movies which have a soul, great story and executed brilliantly which makes up for a great cinematic exp. Jungle book achieves this feat! - 10/10 Not to be missed at any cost....
Bajirao Mastani (2015)
Bajirao Mastani is a Magnificent movie!
Bajirao Mastani is Sanjay "Leela" Bhansali's most ambitious project which he had initially planned to make with Salman and Kareena in the lead...the film never got made due to various reasons. After reading some positive reviews on this forum and some sites, I decided to watch it without high expectations as I didn't like SLB's previous movie Ram Leela. But after watching BM i have no hesitation in saying that SLB regains his magic touch with BM! Yes! Its a magnificent film!! A film which deserves to be seen only on the big screen because of the spectacular sets, the breathtaking cinematography, beautiful colorful costumes, sheer grandeur exhibited and the fantastic performances from the lead actors. Ranveer Singh as Peshwa Bajirao has given a performance of a lifetime. His dialogue delivery with marathi diction, body language and fighting scenes pack a punch... This is his best performance till date. Same with Deepika...She has acted brilliantly as Mastani. In fact I liked her performance more than Priyanka, who is also very good in the film. Milind Soman has a good substantial role and he does well. The music is okay, it could have been better. Choreography and the picturization of songs was noteworthy! First half is good with includes a terrific war scene, second half could have been bettered with some editing specially towards the climax as the movie drags, but no complains! Overall the movie keeps you hooked on...and one doesn't loose interest. The peshwa culture is shown with authencity and Shaniwar Wada palace, Mastani Mahal shown are fantastic! To sum it all up- BM is a labor of love...everyone has put in their heart and soul in this film which is evident while you see it...Go and watch on the big screen and experience one of the best movies of this year! Great comeback from SLB...he is a very artistic n sensitive director...the K Asif of our times.
