Headcases (2008)
Brilliant.
That is NOT Rowan Atkinson, it's George Osbourne you dummy! Definitely for adults only. Who are these people that don't "get it"??? Kids!!?? This show is a gem. Right from the start I knew that "At Last"!! a semi-mainstream TV show that kicks celebs & politicians right in the nuts. The voice-overs are terrific with Jon Culshaw, Omid Djalili giving their all, and the Beckhams is worthy of it's own show!! I have still to meet anyone who dislikes the show, or thinks that it is of poor quality. Some of the political jokes I don't agree with, and I'm sure Al Fayeds' Conspiracies will never cover 9/11 (wink!) but on the whole I think it's a refreshing and long overdue return to Sunday night satire on British TV.
It's all Prans Fallaps fault!!!
Eddie Izzard: Definite Article (1996)
Brilliance.
Awesome. Really clever wit and a style all his own...GO EDDIE! James Mason IS God!!! If you have some cash and are thinking of buying a new DVD, do yourself a favour in buying any of Izzards live shows. This man is hilarity personified. It helps if you know a bit about the history of the world and aren't put off by English accents, but any stoners with any cells left should get this (or any Izzard shows) NOW! Think of a mildly eccentric, calmer English version of Bill Hicks. Maybe I'm a bit off the mark, but I lurves Hicks, and I'm sure Bill's got some Izzard DVDs up in heaven.
Did I just blaspheme?!!
Jaws (1975)
Shooting star captured in background.
Hi all,
Has anyone noticed the nice shooting star visible in the background? It appears at 1hr 36m (give or take). Just after the 3 guys have been interrupted while singing "Show me the way to go home" as Jaws batters the boat, they go on deck and Brody gets his police revolver from his bag, just then look up at Dreyfuss in the background as he says "you alright martin" and you see a beautiful shooting purple star behind him in the night sky. Funny cos I'd never noticed it before, and I've watched this movie hundreds of times. Like many others here, I saw this film during its original release as a 7 year old boy with my folks and sheesh! Couldn't go near water for years without thinking of Jaws. Watching it today I realised that this really is one hell of a film. The clash between Shaw and Dreyfuss characters is timeless and hugely entertaining. Although after reading the trivia on this site, I'd loved to have seen a Lee Marvin and a Sterling Hayden version.
Jaws + Jaws 2 = yeah! Other Jawses = naahh!

Kung fu (2004)
Chow for world president!
Wow...wow...Stephen chow!
This and Shaolin Soccer are the stuff dreams are made of. Truly magic. If you've seen both these films and hated them...kill yourself, there's no hope left for you and your troubled soul. If you haven't seen 'em, SEE THEM ASAP!
wow.
"EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTION OF SMACKDOWNS"
Veering like a drunken driver between naive sweetness and startling cruelty, Kung Fu Hustle is infuriatingly erratic, very, very funny and occasionally just flat-out insane. Chow, who writes and directs, must share credit with fight choreographers Yuen Woo Ping and Sammo Hung. Together they have cooked up an extraordinary collection of smack downs, culminating in a full scale tenement assault that makes a mockery of The Matrix and kicks Gangs Of New York in the gonads.
It's not subtle, and it's not clever, but it is fabulous. ~ (Mark Kermode's review for the BBC.)
