Whiplash (2014)
Oscar Worthy Indeed
An extraordinary movie that is one of a kind.It is one of the few movies where you feel like the antagonist, feel his pain, ambition and drive for striving in excellence. You actually feel that you are picking up the drumsticks and playing. You heart starts to beat faster as the bass beat of the drum increases.I actually did not know either of the actors.I learned that J.K Simmons was the guy from Spiderman. But now I am sure that both of them have left their mark in film history and have raised the bar for motivational films all over the world. The movie is intense.I can say that even the Saw franchise's brutality can not reproduce this kind of a scar in our minds like Whiplash did. And I love the name of the movie too "Whiplash" . It kinda relates to something in the movie, but if you watch the movie closely you can find out the brilliance in its story and its connection with the name. The movie has no flaws at all.
You can watch this movie no matter what mood your in or what age you are or what gender you are or anything.God I so wanna play drums now.
Gone Girl (2014)
The magic of Fincher - Gone Girl
The movie is very complex. You can never expect anything . The main elements that I loved about the movie was that it gave us the urge to investigate the case before the police does and find out a logical solution. But I can assure you that no one can. It was also very realistic in view. It was presented in a way that an average viewer would see a crime investigation at home on T.V news. I can very well say the acting was awesome. The movie is unbelievably long but you wont feel it to be long and I believe that it was a tough experience to emulate. Fincher has done it again.
I recommend this movie to everyone who wants to be left with their jaws wide open at the ending shot.
Zombie Night (2013)
A complicated movie that makes us think(sarcasm)
Warning : The following paragraph is sarcastic. The movie is very complicated. It makes us think and wonder in many ways: 1.The zombies suddenly rise out of the ground on one day.Where were they till now?Playing Poker or something? What the hell? Why did they come up? 2.A girl gets attacked by a zombie in the middle of a road.Where does she run off to for safety? - A cemetery. What the hell? 3.Usually horror movies make us want the people to survive and escape the horror. But this one. It actually makes us want the characters who are acting dead so that we don't want them to live anymore to make us suffer. 4.I was alone in the big theater(Here in India), and I still didn't get scared. It had comedy, adventure and all other crap but it missed the one thing it needed most-Horror. 5.In the movie it lasts for one night and when the sun comes up the zombies died. But what happens when it turn night again? Zombie Night 2 ? What the hell?
The movie is a waste of time and energy and just sucks the joy out of your life. PS. Why did they have that old lady in the movie? She just made me wanna rip the screen off.
The Maze Runner (2014)
A "real" teen novel movie;with actual teens and awesome story leaving me hungry for more.
Finally a proper teen novel movie that is of a good theme and a more believable story(although sci-fi).It has no boring romance like Twilight or a weak plot like Hunger Games(although I am a fan). The story is about a group/community of teenage boys captured by someone and erased or their memory except of their name ,common sense and linguistic skills. They don't know what this movie is about and neither do we. We finally find out in the climax and it is satisfying. Although it is not what I predicted , it was(for the first time) awesome.Dylan O Brein's acting is terrific and so is the others. There is nothing wrong with the movie. Only problem I could find was they lacked the ability to now that it would be a hit and should have begun the sequel immediately as we feel starved and incomplete without the sequel coming soon. I believe it has great potential and is at war with The Hunger Games.
Transcendence (2014)
An Inspiring Movie dealing with Ethics of A.I
An inspiring film indeed.Left me with no emotions whatsoever. Only a silent atmosphere. The movie is completely based on ethics of creation of Artificial Intelligence and it shows only what will happen if such a situation comes in a real world.I don't know why it got this many negative reviews; but to me , it was a journey that left me thinking about it again and again. The speeches and dialogs made by Johnny Depp are noteworthy and should be inscribed on a stone . It was well written and it lowered my expectations(due to its rating) and when I saw it , I got a different message . I thought it would be about supernatural powers and computer hacking and somewhat an action movie but turns out to be powerful in its own way.
I would recommend this movie to all people who understand ethics and love a pure tech and logical film.
