Maybe I didn't get it, but this sucked.

This is the worst movie I've seen in a while. I will stop short of calling it terrible though and are willing to concede that maybe I just didn't get what the director was trying to do.

Were he/she trying to focus on realistic characters? If so, then it's a huge failure. Owen Wilson was funny in parts but the other guy would never get the girl in real life due to his lack of balls and boring personality.

I'm all for originality and taking risks so I've given it a 3/10. My advice to the director would be: "Live, learn and never try anything like this again." And to the Actors: "Read the script properly and ignore the money (I used to have respect for Jack Nicholson and Reece Witherspoon) because being associated with this drivel detracts from the good work you've done in the past and limits you're future prospects."

Taken (I) (2008)

Satisfaction Guaranteed
10 November 2008
First off, a word of warning for the movie-snobs who like inflating their egos by sneering at action films: suspension of disbelief is a prerequisite here.

That out of the way, and assuming the viewer possesses enough intelligence to judge a film for what it is, Taken will thrill, shock and most probably disturb the hell out of you, with its roller coaster ride of emotional appeals and horrific situations of which we can all empathize with.

That being said, the one thing you are most likely to experience with this movie is satisfaction. Neeson's character does a fine job of being the Rambo you'd imagine yourself to be, if anything gruesome happened to one of your loved ones.

awful

Terrible terrible acting. I'ts like the apes are a bunch of school kids performing a play for parents. The action sequences are painful to watch, dreadful sound effects and unconvincing stuntwork.

This movie might have been acceptable (only just) in 1968 but now watching it is an exersise in torture.

The story is reasonable although nothing brilliant, a simple vision of the future.

There are much greater sci-fi films to have come out both before and after this film.

To me, POTA is like and overly serious kids TV show and nothing more.

Could have been much better

The Lighting and color was OK in some areas but for the most part it wasn't colorful enough and the lighting was underdone. There needed to be more focus on shiny appearance of gold and classical cherry wood and golden lighting.

I remember some of the Disney stuff from the early 80's a picture book in particular that features the dog holding the keys at a dungeon and a massive cave system with beautifully illustrated treasure. This movie was nowhere near the standard of that. It came off looking as synthetic as the black pearl pirates in their ghost form.

I'm all for CGI in movies but it was very poorly done in this movie, some of the worst I've seen.

I wanted this movie to take me to the place i remember from the picture book I had as a kid unfortunately it failed miserably. Its such a shame more effort wasn't put into the fine details

The Punisher (2004)
8/10
Classic Film making

Wonderful Camera work and acting.

There are no flashy CGI effects in this movie or fictional superpowers. It relies more on traditional technique's and delivers beautifully.

The director has done a superb job with the severely underfunded budget taking us to a realistic location that serves two purposes cheaper production costs and somewhere original that looks and feels real. After all that is what the punisher movie is about, making a comic book character fit into the real world with realistic situations.

This guy could be anyone out there with a vendetta up against believable enemies. There are no superpowers on show here just a guy with a vendetta up against a powerful man that wants him killed who can afford to hire realistic killers with personality I might add, to do the job

This goes down as one of my favorite films of all time mainly because of the beautiful camera work and realistic gritty style action. I'll be definitely keeping an eye out for this director's work in the future.
