The Oval (2019)
Terrible acting
I really want so bad to like this show but the acting is so awful. I feel like I'm watching the reboot of Dynasty. Even the story itself is far far fetched. Tyler Perry needs to stick to comedy. Drama's dont work for him. With the exception of Precious (A work of art in my opinion). It's a shame I won't make it to a 3rd episode.
Political Animals (2012)
Disappointed
Segorney Weaver was a powerhouse back in the 80's, but her acting is a bit rusty in this series. This was not a role for her. The plot was excellent, the acting was excellent (with the exception of Segorney Weaver). I didn't find her believable, her acting skills fell flat, I watched two episodes and just couldn't watch any longer. The character that plays her ex husband was a bit creepy and disturbing to look at. I gave it 4 stars for the plot. I just couldn't watch it anymore. I guess it's not the 80's anymore when she ruled the Alien franchise. I guess now we know this only lasted 1 season (6 episodes). I was surprised and disappointed at the same time.
Mulligans (2008)
Jumped the Shark
I do love Charlie David but he always seems to miss his mark as he's once again done with this movie. What troubled me as soon as this movie started was the Father and Son. They both looked the same age, (I actually felt the son should have had the father role). It bothered me throughout the whole movie, who ever did the casting really jumped the shark on those. I've seen many Charlie David movies and I always end up with the feeling that he's holding something back. Once again, if they had an older father or younger son, the movie would have received more stars for a rating, Also, they characters looked a bit too old to pull off the college students.
Carrie (2013)
It Failed
It was OK, Carrie in this version was a bit to pretty for the part. Some of the acting was not up to par. I've seen every version of this movie and this one was probably second to worst though the special effects were up to date. Julianne Moore was great and convincing, as for everyone else in the movie.....not so much. I think it's time to put this movie on the shelf. I am very surprised that Stephen King approved of this version (shame on him). The original is by far the best. The other problem I had with this version is that Carrie used her hands to make things move as opposed to her mind like the original, therefore, it looked more like witchcraft. Not sure why they put an "R" rating on this version, it wasn't needed.
Don Jon (2013)
Really Bad
The only thing saving grace for this movie was the cast. Other than that, A movie about someone with a porn addiction just doesn't cut it for me. Half the movie was about a man "keeping in touch with himself" if you know what I mean. They should have focused more on the relationship with the older woman and how much it changed him rather than the younger one. I think I would have enjoyed that much more. The acting was fine, the plot fell flat. You still didn't feel sorry for him at the end which was very disappointing. The stereotypical Jersey/Staten Island family was a bit too much, also didn't get the sister on her cell phone the whole movie and only spoke once, kind of a useless role, but I guess she made her money. I was expecting a lot more for this movie.
The Guilt Trip (2012)
Too much "product placement"
the movie itself was OK, love Babs! the product placement was overkill, I've never seen so many companies in one movie. Therefore, it took away from the movie itself. The movie starts out slow and is pretty predictable with everything your mom can do to embarrass you. Babs looked great, better than she has in years (I still think she got a nose job). Seth Rogan was great also, you felt his frustrations in loving his mom as well as embarrassed for him. the stereotypical Jewish mother played by Babs was a bit over the top. it was a good family movie that was funny without any vulgarity. Most can relate to the movie (hence, the mom that you can't help but love but still will drive you crazy). But once again, the product placement took over the movie. I liked it, but didn't think it needed to show all these companies.
Nine Dead (2009)
A very generic version of SAW (very)
5.4 stars??? Wrong! This movie was a waste of time. The acting was worse than a porn film. Melissa Joan Hart was awful. She was the only veteran actor on there and she seemed like she just got out of acting school. I've seen better acting from the puppets on Seseame Street. Long and drawn out movie. I had a problem with the gay/flamboyant character being the pedophile , It's a wrong stereotype. This movie was just awful, don't waste your time. One of the worst parts was when one was about to be shot, the film shows him biting the blood tablet before he was even shot. lol. Movie is way too far fetched, too many stereotypes for one movie. The ending was stupid
DTLA (2012)
Awful acting
I can't believe anyone that would give this show anymore than 2 stars, the plots are OK but the acting is just terrible. I couldn't make it 10 minutes through the second episode because the acting was so painful to watch. I was hoping a gay show would come around again since Queer As Folk and hoped this was it but this show can't hold a candle to it as far as the acting is concerned. Which is probably why it only made it one season.
I was surprised by the main character because I have seen him in other movies/television programs, I think what was bothersome is he bobbles his head to much trying too hard to act, I wanted to reach into the television and tell him enough with the head movements, Just act!
