I Am a Killer (2018–2022)
8/10
smartly edited
16 February 2023
Each episode always starts off with the killer doing his or her side of the story and even you do not agree with the killing at all, you do kind of understand where they were coming from. And when the killer is done with his explanation, the detectives and relatives tell their part of the story and it totally changes the perspective that you just had created about the killer.

These series and the way these are edited really show how difficult it is to believe or not believe someone and that some people can be extremely manipulative.

I highly recommend to at least watch a couple of episodes, it is important to know what this does to you and your trust.

Jake is such a fantastic actor
21 November 2021
Did not see the original, but might at some point. I really liked the moving and especially the unreal acting of Jake Gyllenhaal. It is really difficult to be compelling when it is mostly you and your headset during the film, but he was and how. Haters are just being haters here, because they never like remakes.

Entertainment the way you want from such a film

Cool film and great acting. No. Of course it is not really realistic, but that's not why you want to see these movies. It's haunting with escalation after escalation.

way better than the rating is portraying it to be

I don't know what movie other people have watched, but this movie is just great and I have seen many many many Korean thrillers. This is up there in the same league with e.g. The Wailing.

Great potential, but it's way too overdramatic
4 June 2021
The visuals of this movie are fantastic and the story is alright as well. However, there is so much drama, I almost laughed one time because of it. It feels like 60% to 70% of the time people are mourning and/or crying and it just takes a way the horror feel you want to have. I do think that the idea of making a horror more emotional is good concept in itself, but this is way way way too much. I had a hard time finishing the series because of it, but the fact that it still made me want to finish reflects in my 7/10 rating.

There's nothing like this

It's a straightforward and a very commercially acceptable story, but these details are way more artsy than you'd expect. And then all the singing was annoying but moving at the same time haha.

Good, but could have been a lot better
9 March 2021
I did enjoy the movie, that's why it's a 7, but I found it rather disappointing. I just saw this yesterday, about 14 years after release. At first I really had to get used to Tom Hanks acting to be foreign, using a foreign accent. I do not understand why they didn't cast someone with a true foreign background. Throughout the movie I never felt captivated in any way, just entertained. Also I thought of a better ending than this.

People finding this boring are representing the emotional decline of our society
1 February 2021
I really was considering not to watch this film, because people on here found it dull or boring. Well, these reviewers appear to require spectacles and highly frequent jump scares or something to be able to enjoy a movie. What happened with just letting yourself being taken away on an emotional journey? Anyway, really liked the movie, great acting and smartly directed and a well deserved 8/10

Great movie from beginning to end

Eventhough the animation was not really modern, it does tell a story very very well. At some point you just forget it is an animation.

Movie raises awareness, but it's very one-sided
4 November 2013
Although I think this movie could have been much better, I gave it a 7. I really liked the concept of meat-lovers experiencing the vegan lifestyle, gaining knowledge about what happens behind doors to provide people with animal products. This movie raises awareness of crazy animal suffering, which so few people really know about. It is also great that this movie takes only 1 hour, which makes it easer for people to decide to go watch this movie.

Before I'll start about the downside of this movie, I want to add that I am a vegetarian and am considering veganism.

The thing that really annoyed me in this movie and actually in general discussions about vegetarianism/veganism, is that vegetarians/vegans always try to prove they've made the right choice, by only showing the veganism supporting arguments, images, studies etcetera, without showing ANY nonsupporting arguments/studies. What about the risks of overconsumption of soy (which is easy with soymilk, because this is highly concentrated with soy), what about people with allergies/intolerances which heavily limit their food options, what about nutrients like vitamin B12 and DHA (an Omega-3 fatty acid), or maybe even some thoughts about the lack of availability of vegan products elsewhere in the world to provide a fully nutritious diet and there are many other points of discussion which are not as easy as you would want it.

For me there are also so many questions unanswered, which nobody seems to talk about and this subject is so much more complex than this movie is showing. At least they added a humorous touch to the movie (although some humor could have been better.. :)), which compensates this problem a little.

Overall, the movie is OK and especially a must watch for ignorant people (which we have LOTS of on this planet), but it would certainly not survive the real critic.
