Magic Temple (1996)
A Timeless Pinoy Classic
I've seen this movie countless of times, still, it never gets old. The story itself suffices in drawing you in.
It's an adventure-filled movie revolving around the experiences of three teenage boys who possess magical abilities. It is fun, original, imaginative and definitely has a story to tell!
In all honesty, this is a top quality film which is worth the numerous awards and recognition it garnered. The cast is perfect and so is the music. But above all things, the story tops it all. The creative minds of the authors are surely manifested in the movie.
It'd be a waste not to watch this magnificent masterpiece. A must-see movie!
Comet (2014)
It's a puzzle, an enigma you need NOT to solve.
This movie was presented like a puzzle. You may want to solve it but the truth is, it has been pieced together all along.
Throughout the movie, the 6-year long relationship of Dell and Kimberly are flashed but not in a chronological manner. In fact, stages of their relationship are shown in clips that interchange the past and the present. At times, you could find yourself doubting if the events are real or were they some sort of a dream or a mere product of imagination. It may seem confusing, but it's really not. Basically, like how relationships are, the movie shows how they met, broke up, got together,etc... That's it. But what's endearing about this movie is how the story was told, how the characters were portrayed and the conversations they had. It's a masterpiece on its own.
Kudos to the director and of course, to the palpable chemistry of Justin Long and Emmy Rossum which has played a major contribution in making this film a masterpiece indeed.
Watching this movie might be confusing at first. Nonetheless, you never stop watching. That's how wonderful Comet is. It's wonderful. Truly a must-watch.
Na xie nian, wo men yi qi zhui de nu hai (2011)
Highschool romance portrayed at its best.
This movie is about experiencing love during one's teenage years. And I guess, we've all been there. That's why, watching this movie felt close to the heart. It'll remind you of the joys, pains and memories brought by young love. But though this movie has a bitter-sweet ending, it was still enjoyable to the last bit. This movie teaches us that though there are things in life that are just not meant to be, the memories, experiences and lessons you learn along the way are the things that matter most.
Have fun watching this! It's totally worth it.
P.S. Aside from the lovable characters, this movie has a good soundtrack too. <3
About Time (2013)
To you, who haven't seen this yet, it's ABOUT TIME that you should.
I have seen quite a number of time travel themed movies, but this for me is the only one worth "going back to" to watch over and over again. It's a superb movie from start to finish, that'll surely make you fall in love with the story and the characters. What makes "About Time" so special is that, it has a little bit of everything (love, comedy, drama, fantasy and etc.) that has been combined to a perfect blend of a masterpiece, full of heart and lessons. The characters feel real with such raw emotions, especially Tim portrayed by Domhnall Gleeson and Mary by Rachel McAdams.
This is actually, the first movie I've seen from Richard Curtis and yet I'm already blown away. Kudos to the makers of this absolutely lovely film. Definitely a must-watch!
