11 March 2020
I Don't know what some people were expecting...It's a Good Show about an Unfortunate time in history...It's historical fiction, if you will...Some characters are from from real life...and the nazis are portrayed for the a**holes they were/are...The show has Drama, Suspense, some Comedy...some Action...All together, a Very Entertaining effort...BTW, watch and listen closely as you can miss important conversations and story points...This show has its complexities...Take Care!

NO Excuse for Murder...
16 January 2019
I was born and reared not too many miles from Letcher county KY; My parents were what might be called "working poor." I know what it means to be poor and how shame can be associated with poverty. I also know violence is easily provoked among some people in the Appalachian area. Whatever the case when it comes to "outsiders" and the attempts some of them may make to portray life in the hills of east Kentucky, there is NO Excuse for murder. Hugh O'Connor came to the area in peace, meaning no harm. Hobert Ison may have had his reasons for bringing his gun and turning what could have been a reasonably discussed situation into a deadly shooting, but if 10-yrs for a killing was the best the Commonwealth could get, then Ison should have served EVERY DAY of that sentence. This film represents what I consider an unfortunate attempt to justify what Ison did because of some romantic notion of a bucolic Appalachian lifestyle, as well as an apology for extreme material poverty abetted by many of the well-to-do, "leading" citizens of the area. Take Care!

John Cusack and Mae Whitman turn in some good performances, and the Story's Not Bad up until the last 10 minutes or so...Ending IS a Surprise, but Very Unsatisfying...

This Flick Might Save Your Life...!
8 March 2012
I watched this DVD today. The story it tells and info it imparts is an inspiration! If you are struggling with being overweight, watching might be the best 90+ minutes you can spend. I'm sure a lot of people will wring their hands about the value of juicing or the difference between juicing, blending and masticating. Don't get caught up in the small details. Yes, exercise isn't emphasized as much, but Phil is seen running, etc; It might be that the filmmakers considered exercise a given.YES! Exercise if you will in any form you safely can do. If you have problems with juicing, then eat the fruits and vegetables whole. Just get the stuff down and eliminate, as much as you can, processed/refined foods. If the idea of fasting w/juice (or eating whole fruit/veggies) for 60 days is repelling to you, then consider 30 days, or 10, or, heck, try 3 days, or 30 hours... I ordered my blender today...Amazon has a great selection. Take Care!

It's Entertainment - Not History!
7 March 2009
If you've been assigned to write a term paper on America's entry into WW II and you're too lazy to read, this movie will not help you as to it being a reliable source of factual information. There was a real attack on the Pearl Harbor base on 7 December 1941. The attack was chaotic and a real tragedy. There are some real-life characters portrayed in this film, e. g. FDR, Jimmy Dolittle,et al Beyond these and a few other (loose) facts, this film is strictly entertainment, filled with action and "romance." If you're looking for an education and you want factual info on real life events, ask someone who was there. Not many of them still around who were at Pearl Harbor on that day, but they are out there. PS The comment about "bikinis" under TRIVIA is a bit off. Kate B. was wearing a 2-piece sunsuit common in the day. Her outfit was not a bikini. Take Care!

Criminal Minds (2005– )
One of the Best "Cop" Shows Out!
12 October 2005
I've tired a bit of the "CSI" shows...except for NCIS...and like this show because it deals less with "dna" and other so called "forensic" evidence...and more with that greatest of all mysteries...the "mind." Da Vinci's Inquest is another great "crime" show from Canada. Check it out! Now, it seems that my comments are too brief for the management of this site. So I reassert my previous assertion that the television program CRIMINAL MINDS on the CBS television network is a Great Show...Of course Great is a highly subjective term. In light of this, I suggest that you watch the show and judge it for yourself. Did I mention Da Vinci's Inquest? Many Thanks & Take Care!

Happy Face Murders (1999 TV Movie)
Based on Real Events
16 January 2005
The made-for-TV movie, HAPPY FACE MURDERS, is based on the activities of Keith Jesperson. Jesperson was a long-haul truck driver and 30-ish in age when he committed his first murder circa 1990. Prior to that time, he lived a "regular" life- employed, married with children, etc. Jesperson's killings took place along his truck routes in the west and northwest United States. Jesperson's first "kill" was a woman he "picked-up" in a bar. This first murder is said to have been sparked by Jesperson's becoming angry when the woman demanded money as payment for their "night out." Jesperson dumped the body in an area he assumed would be secluded enough so as to prevent the body's discovery. However, the body was discovered by hiker's within 24 hours. Thus begins the odd story depicted in this movie. Keith obviously didn't know when he was "well off."

True Story
16 January 2005
Regardless of the "quality" of this TV flick, it's "true." This movie's story is based on a real case. The events happened in South Carolina in 1988. The name of the town is Washington, North Carolina. There was a murder and an attempted murder. The victims were a man and his wife. The actual names of the victims are used in the movie. Suspects were captured. There was a trial. A lot of "stuff" happened between the time of the crime and its resolution. I wasn't aware of the 10 line minimum. I was taught to be succinct. If you want, see this made-for-TV movie. Then, if you have the desire, judge it yourself. It will probably air again. This movie might air again in 2005. Perhaps on Lifetime or USA "networks."
