Quantum Leap (2022–2024)

Its okay, but its too much of a departure form the original
6 August 2023
I was a big fan of the original Quantum Leap, it was funny without being a caricature of itself.

The reboot however has all this cloak and dagger stuff around the fringes, it detracts from the main story, and the goal posts of leaping have been moved way off. The show used to be fun and irreverent, now its like every other show, it has to have the sinister sub plot thread.

In the original, Sam could only leap to time periods within his own lifetime, in the reboot he steps outside of this limit which means the story writers obviously feel like there is not enough content available inside the confines of the new leaper Ben's age limit. How troubling is that?

I will probably finish season 1 (I wrote this after ep 5), only because I like to see things through assuming it is not too much of a stretch.

But I cannot recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the old and looking for more of the same.

Will get almost anyone interested in F1
26 July 2020
I watched this after my daughter, a non licensed mid 20, totally uninterested in motosports recommended it. She lives next to the Melbourne F1 track and went in 2019, after watching this and was a convert. My wife also similarly uninterested in motosport is now a convert. Me, I was a motosport fan for ages (even owned my own car), then drifted away as it became a little hum drum, but this has given me a new perspective. An inside line into the daily dramas of managing, driving, racing in motosport. So much so, I may even plan a holiday to Melbourne for Grand Prix weekend just for the hell of it. Something I never thought I would ever do. For me and my wife, one of the better aspects of this is that we have been to many of the locations where the races are run so a nostalgic flood of memories is a hit.

I recommend this to anyone who is interested in knowing more about F1, fan or not, this is not just about the race, its so much more.

Apologist tripe that continues to tell less than the whole story.
25 October 2014
I was actually looking forward to this piece of media. I cannot call it a documentary as it is no better than any other one sided story told by any one trying to tell their own story without recognising all the facts. Maybe it was a movie after all and just a work of fiction.

It fails in many ways to recognise there are many ways to be imperialist and that just because you do it in a new and different way, that does not make it excusable.

If you are a red, white and blue, stars and stripes died in the wool American or lover of all things American, you'll probably get the warm and fuzzies watching this. However if you have any sort of desire for something educational, informative and balanced, this is not it.

Please do not waste your time or money
17 November 2013
I watch a lot of movies and will usually persevere with most, but I couldn't get past 10 minutes into this movie.

Save your time and money, don't bother with this, its not even B grade, in fact I'm not sure they even have a grade for this type of movie.

You cannot even let this movie run in the background while you do something else, unless that something else involves the use of porcelain and flushing.

Although maybe it could be used as a form of torture or punishment.

DO NOT BOTHER

Hope this saves someone else.
