I was a big fan of the original Quantum Leap, it was funny without being a caricature of itself.
The reboot however has all this cloak and dagger stuff around the fringes, it detracts from the main story, and the goal posts of leaping have been moved way off. The show used to be fun and irreverent, now its like every other show, it has to have the sinister sub plot thread.
In the original, Sam could only leap to time periods within his own lifetime, in the reboot he steps outside of this limit which means the story writers obviously feel like there is not enough content available inside the confines of the new leaper Ben's age limit. How troubling is that?
I will probably finish season 1 (I wrote this after ep 5), only because I like to see things through assuming it is not too much of a stretch.
But I cannot recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the old and looking for more of the same.
