Mediocrity - A lost opportunity
22 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
In Summary:

Appallingly overt product placements. More of a commercial than a movie.

Brilliant premise - but let down by lack of any character or plot development.

The plot is treated purely as a device for standard action scenes - a bit like the plot in a seventies porn movie

Wasted the talents of a fine cast. This is down to poor direction, and script.

Far too many implausible stunts - even for a Hollywood Summer blockbuster.

As thought-provoking as Dumb and Dumberer.

They really should stop making these
5 July 2005
This is the most stupid, lame and pitiful instalment The Crow series has brought to our plates! It is a waste, pure waste of money and time. The actors are disgraceful, the crow looks REALLY feminine and the storyline is THE SAME as the past three movies. And it also lacks the aura and atmosphere that was given from the other previous movies, for example, most of the movie takes place in DAYLIGHT! I mean, come on, thats not what the crow is meant to be made of. The Crow is meant to be a cool, slick, dark Gothic revenge story. These all apply to this film, except for cool, dark, slick or Gothic (and now that I mentioned it, STORY!!!).

And to all you American readers of this review: DON'T BUY THIS MOVIE!! Plain and simple, just don't buy it, it's just a WASTE of your hard- earned money to buy this filth. I am from Ireland, and to tell you the truth I was disappointed that it was not getting released on DVD over here, as I am a HUGE fan of the previous instalments (as you might have guessed at the beginning of this review). But my friend had it shipped in from the good IL' USA and I was anxious to watch it. After watching watching it, I realised to my misfortune that it was the most pointless 2 hours of my life. 2 HOURS!! Wasted! Over SH*T so bad, I could make a better movie with my plats.

So, please! For the sake of your hard earned money, DON'T WASTE IT ON B.S. LIKE THIS!!! 1/10

Too Light Hearted
15 January 2005
This third instalment of the epic Crow trilogy is far from as cool as the first two. The crow is meant to have long hair and a long leather coat. The make-up was not as cool as in the first two movies. I also want to point out that the crow in this movie does not have style, cool, charm or a touch of insanity (I personally like that best about the crow, the fact that he is slightly insane, that's what makes him the crow).

I am not saying that this is a bad movie. I would actually recommend this movie to you if you are in need of something to watch. I am just saying that it is TOO different from the first two crow movies (apart from the storyline, obviously).

I am not stopping any of you crow fans from watching this movie, i am not even saying that it is a BAD movie. All I am saying is don't be expecting it to be anything like "The Crow" or "The Crow: City Of Angels". You may experience some disappointment while watching this movie, for it is no where near as dark or as violet as the first two crow instalments. In the end, the point I am trying to get through is this is too light hearted for the crow's real personality, but is still entertaining at best.

Entertaining
3 January 2005
A very entertaining movie. Not as good as "Desperado", but non the less entertaining. This is part three in the "El Mariachi" series, and any EL MARIACHI fan around the world will not be disappointed in this action-packed, thrill-of-a-ride movie. All the original cast from DESPERADO (even Cheech Marin) have returned for this highly-worthy sequel for more spill, thrills and kills.

With Johnny Depp as one of the main characters in this movie, the film is slightly more comic than the first two. the film is also more light hearted than the first two.

The DVD of "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" has very impressive extra features. My favourite of which is entitled "Ten Minute Cooking School", in which the director, Robert Rodriguez, teaches us how to cook 'Puerco Pibil' the meal which Johnny Depp's character in the movie would KILL for.

So for all EL MARIACHI fans, buy the DVD, it is a cool film and has cool extras. You won't be disappointed.

Non-Stop Action!
2 January 2005
This sequel to "El Mariachi" has non-stop action, lots of killing, lots of blood and Salma Hayek in the nude. As usual, cast is excellent and the director is excellent. This is a DYNAMITE movie.

The director (Robert Rodriguez) is somewhat unique. He has a wild imagination, a taste for violence and a good taste for a little comedy. He is sort of a cross between Bryan Singer and Quentin Tarantino.

The hero (Antonio Banderas) is the coolest Mexican anti-hero on this earth. He would probably be a cross between Blade and The Crow, always dressed in black, always carrying weapons wherever he goes and always getting into trouble.

The Leading Lady (Salma Hayek) is the hottest Mexican bookstore keeper on Earth. She is both beautiful and dangerous and she won't fail to please the audience.

This film aims to please and it has done an amazing job on me and my family. This film is very likely to have a mind-blowing affect on any action, crime, romantic or western fan.

10/10, *****, Two Thumbs Up.

I, Loved It
2 January 2005
This film is great, sorry, I mean LEGENDARY!! This is amongst the best movies made in 2004. The actors were superb, they did their job well. And the director, man, did he do a good job or WHAT?! A superb not-that-well-known director, Alex Proyas.

Despite being Not-that-well-known, Alex Proyas has actually done three blockbuster hit movies (i.e. I, Robot, The Crow and Dark City, I haven't actually SEEN Dark City, but I've Heard that it was good). If Alex Proyas reads this review, I think he ought to know he did a great job.

And if any big Hollywood producers by any chance get to read this review, I would strongly recommend Alex Proyas for your next movie. And I would strongly recommend any readers to save up your pocket money, go out and buy this film. This is a film worth being in every household. You will not regret buying this masterpiece of a movie.

!!!!!!!BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!

Terrible!! Very Disappointing!
31 December 2004
This movie was abysmal. Mel Brooks went very sloppy on writing and directing this movie. It was as if he wrote the script in like 3 days. The man just wrote down any joke anything that popped into his head.

I have been a Mel Brooks fan since I was about eight. Mel Brooks is my idol. I used to love watching "Young Frankenstein,""The Producers" and "Blazing Saddles", but this film has lost the traditional Mel Brooks touch.

I have also noticed upon watching this movie that some of the jokes have been used in some of the earlier Mel Brooks movies, (e.g. the 'It's Good To Be The King' joke has been taken from the "History Of The World part 1" movie).

So to all Mel Brooks fans. Don't attempt to watch this movie, it would only fill you with disappointment. Take my word for it, I am a die hard Mel Brooks fan, I have experienced on watching this movie and it is a total waste of time.

Very Good! I Really Enjoyed It
31 December 2004
Stop criticising this movie! Surly it's no match for the first Crow movie, but in the long run it's a totally different movie to the first. The Characters are different, The actors are different, the villains are different and technically the story is different, for in the first movie, It's Eric Draven's Fiancée that gets murdered and the "sequel", It's Ashe's SON that get's murdered.

O.K. maybe i'm wrong, it more likely is a sequel. But it's not a sequel to the first crow film, it does not follow the same story, it's about a completely different person.

The message I'm trying to get through to you is: "Stop thinking of it as a sequel. Think of it as it's own movie, THEN you'll enjoy it better." Walk down to a video store near you, and rent it out. Just give the damn movie a chance.

Excellent! One of John Cleese's BEST
29 December 2004
Excellent! Simply Excellent! John Cleese is the Master of comedy. This is the best British Comedy since "Life Of Brian" (also starring John Cleese). John wrote this screenplay perfectly, honestly, no one could have wrote it better. With a great cast, script, story, good music, good jokes, great humor and a tromendousley funny romantic story, this is one film you won't want to miss. Personally, my favourite character would have to be none other that Otto (Kevin Kline), the half-witted, half-crazed, non-merciful psycopath. This film put Kevin Kline right on the map and one him an Oscar.

This film is a true landmark in British comedy. Stop watching whatever you are watching now and go rent out this movie, you won't regret it.

Awesome!!!!! Watch this Movie!
28 December 2004
This movie is mega sweet. It is excellent. And, in some ways, legendary. This movie had a perfect story, perfect cast, perfect script and a great twist.Brandon Lee (1965- 1993) was perfect for this role and played the part sweetly. This review may be short, for it is hard to describe in words just how good this movie is, also, this is my first review for IMDb.com and I am a little nervous.

Anyways, I just wanted to tell anyone who gets a chance at reading this review: THIS MOVIE ROCKS!!!

I would also just like to say that I am deeply sad for what happened to Brandon Lee on the set, for who knows, if he had lived he might have become a movie superstar, so I am going to close my first review by saying that Brandon Lee will always be remembered.
