What a sellout on a train wreck looks like
10 March 2023
Alan Cumming had some fantastic performances over the years in other Drama and Comedy series. So, I was excited to see what he can bring to reality TV. But 20 minutes in, it's becoming increasingly clear that he probably owes a lot of gambling debt or a huge favor to some despicable characters to agree to appear in this. His lines are not funny, sometimes outright weird. He tried really hard to make every sentence a suspense, but it just didn't work.

But who cares as long as he gets paid, right?

As for the contestants, I'm not gonna get into details of what they actually said or had done. Let's just say: nobody has any spark with each other or the host or in themselves. They all eager to talk about their general backgrounds and past experiences and how they were the good fit for a show like this and how they are going to bring that X-factor to the show: big sales talk all the time! And then you saw them turn around and just broke their characters. Didn't they just say they were devious and can spot the unusual suspects?

It felt like the audience is watching a bunch of headless flies droning around pointless suspensions reading out loud passionately by Alan Cumming.

I dare you try this. See if you can make it all the way to the end of episode one.

A downgraded version of Knives Out.
25 November 2022
Sure you got some Oscar winners in it. The set is beautifully and meticulously made. Occasionally, the dialogue is witty and funny. They even packed one or two moving moments...

But all of that just couldn't make up to lazy plots and cardboard characters... and the ending? Characters were killed off because the movie needs your attention. But we also made them unlikable so you feel sorry for them and ruin the mood to continue... other main characters have more or less minor flaws in them, but never explained how these obstacles affected them to shape them into who they are, when they seem to resolve those difficulties later in the film, you also can't cheer for them or feel happy for them. It's just another "ok, they move past that now" moment. Here's a little challenge: try connect with any character. It won't be easy.

My advice: Leave it on while you need to do the dishes like one of the characters did. Don't worry too much if you might miss something. Because you won't.

It's hard to do a whodunnit. But it's not impossible. When it's done right, it's definitely worth repeated viewing. Sadly, this isn't one.

True comedy shines.
11 September 2021
It doesn't matter if this show never got the kind of money like those so called "XX times Emmy nominations" shows did to promote themselves. True comedy shines. Each season, the satire takes up a notch. The cast is great, the writing is genius, the set is amazing. I came across its name on a subsection discussion of another show two years ago. Now I finally got time to try it. Binge it in one go and still want some more... hope TBS is not like CBS: when you got such a gem, pour some marketing into it and spread the joy!

What a bunch of sellouts...
30 July 2021
Some of these motherf@kers had Oscar nominations or had won Oscars? After watching this movie, you will be convinced that those nominations and awards were rigged. There's acting, just not very good. They don't seem to try very hard either. If you have that feeling that You probably would do a better job than this, you are not alone. Skip this and spend these hours on a better one. After all, you are looking for feeling good about the time you spent, not regretting it.

1 star for the music. Everyone does for a spoiled brat, ridiculous ending, lazy writing.

For fans of Twilight & Hunger game
28 April 2021
It's mostly the "Marisol" type of plot lines: girl was poor, girl met handsome prince (who is sexy as a vampire), who loves the girl dedicatedly despite of other interests, and invites her to be his equal, but girl also has childhood puppy love (who's loyal like a werewolf) who also follows her to every danger... oh, how will she choose? What a dilemma... it's like the magic version of Twilight Sagas...

Dialogues are too "teenage girl wet dream" type, teenagers can talk like that, but... all the time like that? I doubt it. But some of them are really good looking, so who cares what they say anyway?

The transitions of the characters' realizations feel like they are more "programmed to release on time" like robots than actually going through the hardships, I guess that's what we get from Network geniuses' decision on "8 episodes" cap. If they want it to be another phenomenon show, they'd better spend a bit more on the writing.

If you got some time to kill, try it; but I doubt it that you will miss it like you do for the Witcher.

Get ready to relax and laugh out loud
27 February 2021
It's true when they say: "it's kind of silly... but at all the right moments." After a long day of crunching numbers and dealing with soul-crushing excel sheets, you can really use this to chillax. Don't think too much, just follow Barb & Star to the vacation.

Absolutely garbage
26 September 2020
When you see those big names, and some of them have Oscar nominations, you expect something out of them. Not better things, but you know what I mean, something. But this writing is so moronic that you question your own sanity for picking it out of the streaming line choices and also wonder if all those seemingly capable stars have actually read the script? This writing? And they still willingly choose to do it? No, it can't be. They must be under some kind of siege... maybe they are the ones who are being hunted by those assassins, Not Ava.

For people who never liked Ferrel
30 June 2020
I am not a huge fan of him either... but man this time he does the comedy like no other... just for the song "Ja Ja Ding Dong", the movies is worth the fun... besides, they really mocked the hell out of a certain homophobic country, the parodies inside... and they really got some nice songs too... what have you got to lose in the lockdown of this pandemic? A good time? I'm downloading the albums and I'm gonna sing "Ja Ja Ding Dong" all day long until all my neighbors' kids have learnt it well. And then let them bother the hell out of their parents!

I enjoyed the singing very much. Each star is for a song in the film.

It's surprisingly entertaining
6 April 2019
Perfect for a study break if you have 3000 pages to finish. Zoey's genius is a bit too clever, Ben's loser-vibe is a bit too depressive, Amanda's jeans is a bit too tight, Jason's rudeness is a bit too annoying, Mike's redundancy is a bit too much. But it's still a good entertainment to relax your brains from all the heavy studying, if you will not watch it in one go.

A masterpiece of all casts and crew.
27 February 2019
Once again, Glen Close was robbed of another Oscar. If you are looking for evidence of the crime, watch this film. Her work speaks for itself. Of course it's a work of all casts and crew. But if you look at only her contribution, it's worthy enough.

If you look at it from a different angle

It is definitely a comedy for me. There are so many hilarious moments, especially how those "team members" got killed off by the alien. And the lines are just moronicly funny. I'm telling you guys: watch it with a comic heart and laugh your a** off!
