Another forgettable animation
19 October 2021
The premises of this story of a social bot gone rogue is funny. But the script itself is very convoluted. I thought the story ended a few times but it dragged on and on.

I always wonder how these kind of Animations are made. Did anybody check the storyboard?

Will you have a good time with your family? That is somewhere between probably and maybe not. If you are spoiled (like me) with great animation...then not. If you are an average movie goer probably yes.

Master of None: Moments in Love, Chapter 1 (2021)
Season 3, Episode 1

Not what I expected,
27 May 2021
I really liked the first two seasons of Master of None. But the start of Season 3 does not resemble the other seasons. It is slow paced in story and very focussed on esthetics in filming. There are many moments of stillness and contemplation. But I was not disappointed at all. The common theme of this series is connection and communication and this episode does excel on this subject.

Beware! Movie for families who watched Dora in the past
8 August 2019
I watched the movie with my kids aged 10 and 11. I liked it, they liked it. But it was not that long ago that I watched cartoon Dora with them. So we laughed at the inside jokes and The cartoonesk way Dora is portrayed. We also felt nostalgic about the innocent time when my kids still watched cartoon Dora. I do think that the targetgroup for this movie is very narrow. It is best suited for families who watched the cartoon Dora in the past and now have kids who are a bit more grown up. Everybody else should skip this movie.

Pan (2015)

Mad Max for kids
19 October 2015
I had low expectations for this movie seeing the low review scores but I just saw Pan and really enjoyed it. It was above all a visual stunning movie. We saw it in 3d and Neverland really came alive. The story is thin but OK enough to keep the movie going. It reminded me in a way of Mad max. Also visual stunning, lost of action, with duels, fighting, etc but with a razor thin story line. Above all my kids of 6 and 7 enjoyed it very much. It was kind of the first time that they saw such an action movie. It can be a little bit frightening sometimes for kids but not too much.

I would recommend seeing the movie with your family. If you are a real movie buff you better skip it.

Closer (I) (2004)

Clearly a play adapted for screen, Great Acting Though.
24 October 2005
Closer is a movie about love, sex and adultery. And the how the four main characters cope with those things. Watching this movie with your own lover gives you something to discuss about.

The best thing about the movie is the performance of three of the four actors. While Jude Law (as Dan a obscure writer) Julia Roberts (as Anna a photographer) and Clive Owen Larry (a dermatologist) stand out. Natalie Portman (as Alice former stripper) degrades the movie in her moaning performance. While her good looks compensate a lot she can not stand out against the rest of the cast.

While the acting performance is excellent the movie can not shake of it's background as a play. I know some people love long dialogues and hidden emotions. But I don't. I think the movies pace was to slow to be really a "great" movie.
