Gungrave (2002 Video Game)
Spectacular action game
13 July 2004
Gungrave is the best anime-game and one of the best PS2 games. Fantastic movies mixed with spectacular dynamic gameplay. If you want non-stop action, Gungrave is just what you need. Action doesn't stop even while you are standing. In this games everybody shots every time. Gungrave is a good example of a great production design. The design of the main character (Brandon/Grave) is awesome. Bosses are wonderful. Absolutely different locations. Every level, like a new game. Good stylized animation. Especially when you are standing. Grave like a death-dancer and gives 1000 of bullets to his enemies. All this comes along with a good story.

But every great game has drawbacks. Gungrave has them too. First of all - the duration. Gungrave is a very short game. 6 levels only. Just 1,5 hours of game-play. Like a good movie. Then comes unbearable difficulty. One small disadvantage is graphics. It's a great stylized cartoon graphics. But when you approach the enemies, you can see scarecity of polygons. But it happens very seldom. You always have to run and shot everybody. And a very little disadvantage is a monotonous game-play. Sometimes you could get tired of infinite action. That's all. But all of these minuses are nothing. You will enjoy Gungrave. And you will play again and again, because it has many endings and a dozen of special features (production arts, an exclusive making of (after third end), and more).

To conclude with I can say, that a great production design, good story, amazing characters, hi-octane game-play, stylized graphics and spectacular inter-mission movies make Gungrave the best action game of PlayStation 2 and the best action game of the world. My Grade is A.

A rare spectacular sci-fi adventure!
9 July 2004
Chronicles of Riddick is the best summer film yet and the best film of David Twohy. Great visual effects come along with quite an interesting plot. The special thing about this movie is that every 10 minutes there is something new: new planets, new creatures, new weapons, new costumes, everything to satisfy hunger for a good sci-fi interplanetary adventure. The work of the production designer is outstanding. This is a great sci-fi action movie no more no less. That's why you won't find here any philosophical discussions or deep character investigation. No. Only adventures. The only disappointment of this movies is the way fight scenes were shot: close-ups mostly. I don't think that it was done because Vin Diesel can't fight but just because to leave some brutal moments off screen.

At last I should say that it's not necessary to watch Pitch Black to enjoy Chronicles of Riddick. They are absolutely different movies in all aspects. My grade is "A".
