Black Cop (2017)
Nice to see some payback
This film starts as standard story about how a black cop tries to adjust in a mostly white urban police unit, then slowly spirals into seeing the reverse of roles in a very satisfying set of incidents of how the Black community is treated by white cops, and how a privileged white community reacts when it is treated with the same distain by a Black cop. The action is intercut with monologues that do distract from the pacing of the film a bit, but does help the film send a deeper message, I really enjoyed this film, it's well shot, well acted and sends a powerful message, it would be nice for every rookie cops to watch before their first day on patrol.
The Rhythm Section (2020)
4 stars was being kind....
From the beginning, a ludicrous premise: that a smart angry college girl can become a skilled CIA assassin simply by swimming across a cold river in her underwear and kicking Judd Law in the groin, you NEVER believe for a second that Blake Lively could even shoot a gun straight let alone gain the necessary skills to become a killer, being a talented thumb wrestler would be a stretch, save your money rent "atomic blonde" or "red sparrow"
Two for the Money (1972)
Memorable & well acted
I saw this when I was 11 years old and still, after the thousands of films I've seen it sticks with me, the thought of Mercedes McCambridge hauntingly singing "men were deceivers ever..." still sends chills down my spine.
