Man of the Year (2006)
What the...
I am pretty surprised to see that this movie earned even lukewarm reviews, I found this movie downright awful. The plot flounders around trying to decide if it is a comedy or a thriller, then realizes it cannot achieve either. So it throws in the towel and continues with its absurd plot highlighted with a unintentional hilarious scene with Laura Linney, an injection, and spilled coffee that leaves the audience awkwardly squirming in their seats looking at one another like is this for real? Basically it is abysmal and really disappointing for Robin Williams fans, and it makes you think someone blackmailed Laura Linney into adding this piece of trash to her otherwise respectable resume. I wanted to leave after 10 minutes and wish I had, even seeing it for free I wanted someone to pay me for my wasted time. The computer glitch/twist in this movie was embarrassingly stupid, and by the end you don't care who wins the election. I vote for straight to DVD.
Failure to Launch (2006)
Failure to Laugh
There was a rare instance in a film, it was not a time I was emotionally moved, or when I felt shock or surprise from the plot, no no that rare instance was when I actually let out a chuckle. I laughed once in the entire movie, and immediately afterward I was ashamed. At no point in its rambling incoherent plot dotted with characters that reminded me of the bitchy moronic kids in 8th grade and the arbitrary animal bites did I enjoy myself. This movie was atrocious, and I am still wiping away my tears for my beloved Sarah Jessica Parker and her career. Maybe she was drunk when she decided to do this movie, but I wish I was drunk while I was watching it, because it might have helped. The worst part was the random, unexplained animals that roamed freely through this jungle of a film. Matthew was bitten by everything from chipmunks to dolphins to lizards, and at one point there was an unfortunate scene with a bird and CPR. Don't ask, and do not go see this movie for yourself to have it explained. You don't want to know. I was hoping a poisonous spider would come along and bite me as well to put me out of my misery. I don't know who wrote this film but I would like to track them down and get my 19 bucks back. I hope Monday morning when the box office numbers are put out they find themselves fired and now forced to serve pretzels at a kiosk in the mall.
The Chumscrubber (2005)
This movie made my life worse for an hour and forty-five minutes.
There is no zero available, hence why I gave this movie a 1. I have never seen such an abomination of a film, aside from possibly Crazy/Beautiful. This movie lacks any sort of explanation for the characters actions, and the fact that it is labeled a comedy is absurd. In the making of the movie, the director claims that he wants to have parents watch this movie and know what life is like for their teenagers. If there are any teenagers like these characters then they should be the ones stabbed in the leg. That scene was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen, and made me physically sick. Not only was this movie bad, it was outright offensive. I think the makers of this movie must have slipped the actors in it some sort of pills for them to agree to be a part of this piece of trash.
Men Seeking Women (1997)
painful does not describe it
The only reason there is a 1 for this movie is because 0 was not an option. It was torture to sit through and where the script sounds like it was written by the kid who sat behind you in third grade and ate chalk. It dragged on so slowly and I had to keep checking my watch to see when the pain would stop. I love will ferrell, but this movie made me cringe where I was supposed to laugh. It seems at the end the writers realized none of it worked and even they couldn't stomach it, so they just ended it in the most absurd way possible. Do not rent it, it will bore you out of your mind and creep you out as well. The music was like a bad porn, and apparently they could not cast any woman under the age of 40 as a love interest. I can't get my hour and thirty-four minutes back, but please spare yourselves.
Crazy/Beautiful (2001)
so painfully bad.
WOW. This movie is one of the worst I have ever seen. And every time I see a movie with Kirsten Dunst in it I cringe a little bit because I have terrible flashbacks of this waste of a time they call a film. please save yourself the trouble and do NOT see it. It is cliché, predictable from the beginning, and insults everyone in the audience's intelligence level. I'm getting chills just thinking about it. i went in there expecting maybe an entertaining smart movie, at worst a typical teenage flick. however, the problems that Kristen dunst's character goes through just pile up on one another haphazardly and by the time she starts taking drugs and developing an eating disorder instead of caring like one normally would, you groan, laugh, or start throwing your popcorn at the screen yelling at the fool to dump her already.
