Impact After the Crash (2013)
Could hardly hear a word
Underneath the deafening, relentless 'music' and sound effects, there are the voices of some people who were survivors of a truly awful bus crash accident, telling us about it. Wish I could have heard all of what they had to say, but the sound balance was atrocious. The 'music' was recorded at double (at least) the volume of the interviews, and was absolutely incessant, which made it really difficult to make out everything they were saying.
Other than that, it was a well put together documentary.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Sooo much filler, repetition and waffle
I'm trying to maintain my interest after having watched 3 of the 4 episodes, but it's just sooo repetitive and takes sooo long to go anywhere. The facts I've found out so far about this case could have been presented in a far more engaging way in less than an hour. There really is that much waffle.
Beatus (2018)
Kept my interest until the end but couldn't see or hear half of what was going on
Loved the Latvian scenery, enjoyed the story, the soundtrack was atmospheric etc but half of the movie was filmed at night with the lighting levels so low that it's hard to decipher what's actually happening, and the sound is just awful. There's quite a lot of whispered dialogue which you can't actually hear. I have no way of knowing if this inaudible dialogue was relevant to the plot.
The American actresses' 'Latvian' accents were hilarious.
