Hawaa Hawaai (2014)
S*itload of Emotional Bullcrap
Really?? Are Indians that dumb? This director is manipulating emotions, creating god-like characters with no trace of human evil and tell me, which father watches his son study from a school window? and the director replaced his father with a skating teacher-give me a break.
Seems like making audience feel sorry about being able to live a normal life is a way to go in Indian movies. The portrayal of slums was exaggerated and needless. The director was trying to trade tears for his movie but in the end it turned out to be a hyper-emotional, non realistic story that will only appeal to you if you mind as weak as a rice glue.
The performances were ordinary with the leads(I guess were instructed by director) only trying to make us feel sad about the state they're in. What is the world they are living in? In my world, some good things happen and some bad but apparently in their world all bad things happen to nice people until a silver lining and everything goes Okay.. You know what? F*ck this.. I'd sue the director if I could for emotional manipulation....
Life Cycles (2010)
Visually Stunning
When you combine exceptional hard work with phenomenal cinematography and some inspiring dialogues you can only end up with life cycles. It was a remarkable journey filled with some mind blowing scenarios and breath taking stunts and it's amazing how the small fragments link up to form a massively inspiring movie, the thing that glues everything together is the awesome soundtrack.
Many may find the lines of narration just as some mere clichés but I think it's well related to the story and suits the movie. I loved the way there were so many little metaphors which could potentially have larger meanings. It is by far the most visually artistic movie I have seen and I was very much inspired by what the movie had to tell.
Submarine (2010)
satisfying
I was searching for a good high school romance movie and through my search over internet I found submarine. It is a Okay movie, neither taking you to seventh heaven nor letting you down.
I was fascinated by the character Oliver Tate. He is a genuine "nice" teenager neither too extravagant nor some hidden under obscurity nerd. He thinks like most of the teenager do and that's the good aspect of the movie. The situations like him bullying for pursuit of Jordana(potential girlfriend) despite being philosophically against bullying were realistic. The Jordana part of story was a emotional joy ride with all sorts of emotions but it was parallel story of relationship between their parents which kind of let the movie down or rather"decreased it's elegance". The seemingly enigmatic situation of the relationship between his parents slow the movie down in second half. I was also impressed by the character Jordana who represents English typical teenage girls.
The story was okay but the acting of Robert Craig was more than terrific, he has great potential to be a great actor. Despite letting you down at some scenes the movie impresses overall with glimpse of humor and emotions altogether.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Poetic
I was in search of a good romance movie and god what a milestone it is to have watched pride and prejudice. I happened to read this book 2 years before and as a rowdy teenager I could not make too much from it then. Now I know clearly what a beautiful masterpiece it was.
I was so unsure of Keira Knightley since her horror show in pirates of Caribbean series (which I happened to watch before pride and prejudice) but she was flawless. Her acting skills are being excellent and I could not take my eyes off her eye catching looks. The other impressive feature of this film is the background scenes, they were breathtaking. I thing the dialogs stole the show must. The screenplay have been well adapted. Since the novel itself was spectacular it would make less sense that I would talk about the story and the plot.
I think this will go down in history as one of the best adaptations of novel ever made. Overall it is a must watch movie for romance lovers and I think it's a complete cinematic experience and a must watch.
Mulholland Dr. (2001)
Nothing like you've ever seen
Oh my gosh, I don't know from where to start. I just like an ordinary viewer came to know about David Lynch from the Internet. From what was written about him in Internet it made restless to watch his films and particularly Mulholland Dr.
I feel blessed that I watched that movie. It gave me the most terrific cinematic experience in my life. I watched this movie and got plunged into the most dramatic plot ever. the film started pretty simply with a aspiring small town girl Betty making her way towards the mighty Hollywood who goes to live in her aunt's exotic apartment and finds a completely clueless amnesiac woman who just had escaped from a terrible accident at Mulholland Dr. Betty helps her to find out who she is. They end up falling in love with each other then bizarre things start to happen. Lynch cleverly introduces two new characters Camilla Rhodes and Diane Selwyn and establishes a drammatical relationship between them. Guess what Betty is Diane and the amnesiac woman is Camilla. The film then explores the astonishing chain of events which will just blow your mind
You will just be overwhelmed by the intrigue, thrill and suspense David Lynch has produced. After the movie completes you will just go wild and think "What the hell happened in that movie" and you will start developing your little theory about this movie. I have watched this movie thrice and pretty sure what happened in that movie but next time I watch it I will try to make justification about the characters which I had ignored during my last three watches. That's what I like about this movie each time you watch it different it will offer.
My recommendation.. "Oh Yes,, go for it and get blown by the most psychic, bizarre and awesome cinematic experience ever.............
The Crush (2010)
good
I found that this movie was nominated to Oscars and obviously I had great expectations. But it turned out to be a pretty Okay movie nothing so overwhelming about it. The story starts with a boy having his little crush on his teacher later he finds that she is about to marry another man. So the kid provokes him for one on one battle with the gun. Naturally the man took it lightly but it takes violent turn as the boy brings up his father's gun. The man is too much scared and he confesses his love for the teacher was just a made up obligations but it turns out to be a fake gun and the teacher leaves her fiancée This movie portrays childhood innocence and their insistence but it fairly has some plot holes. How can a second grader think like the boy did? is the question that pops on my head every time I think about this movie. But it's a well directed movie and an entertaining one .
