The Buccaneers (1995)
One of my FAVORITE movies!
This movie, The Buccaneers, is one of my all-time favorite movies ever! I love everything about it. The lush, beautiful English homes and countryside. The amazing characters and awesome acting. The authenticity of the period (everything from costumes, hairstyles, sets, etc. - wonderful). The score is so beautiful. I could watch this movie over and over and over and love it each and every time.
The plot moves at just the right pace throughout the entire movie. Never too slow or dragging - but not to fast either - allows you to absorb the richness and beauty of the aristocratic homes (oh, they are so amazing!) and all that surrounds the story. I found myself totally drawn in to these characters in a way I rarely have in any other movie.
Do yourself a favor and watch this enchanting movie!
Match Point (2005)
Why parts of movie are not believable........
I thought this was a very good movie. It was entertaining, with good twists & turns .... and a good story about "luck" in life. I also enjoyed the performances of the actors. I especially loved that it was filmed in London & the English countryside .... my favorite places on earth!! Anyway, my biggest beef with the movie was that Nola was pregnant when she was killed. An autopsy would have immediately confirmed that. Which would have made Chris an even bigger suspect than he already was. The one detective was already on to him & the pregnancy would've strengthened his theory. Further, wouldn't Nola have recorded her pregnancy into her diary .... where she apparently wrote everything else??? Also, it would have been relatively easy for the detectives to learn if Chris had access to weapons. Once that was determined, the type of weapon used in the murder would've been traced directly to Chris.
So I find it doubtful that this type of murder could really have been that easy to walk away from.
Other than all that (!!) I did like the film - probably because the acting & the sets were a bit more realistic than most films I see today where directors treats their audience like imbeciles.
