Great acting, dialogues could have been better written
3 January 2020
The movie shows, from the perspective of a child, the story of a jewish family fleeing in Europe looking for opportunity after escaping from Hitler.

The scenery is nicely made, nice shots in the alps, nice rooms. The script is well written, but they could have worked better on small details, such as dialogue/foreshadowing. They expect that the viewer might not catch everything that is going on, so they try to explain it with dialogue, which feels artificial sometimes. As an example, the girl cares throughout the whole movie about the lost rabbit, though she's never seen playing with such toys: they had to explain over and over the movie's title.

They cared too much into making the "good" characters look pretty and the "evil" characters look bad. In one scene in which the girl's mother complain about having a bad hair while her hair was clearly made to look pretty (she looks/is 20 years younger than her husband). Meanwhile the characters which are not friends of the family are always portrayed with strange looks.

The humor is good, though you might need to speak some German to fully understand it.

It's a good movie, though some small details could have been made with more thought. 8/10

Dark (2017–2020)

Horror, bad soundtrack
17 January 2018
'Dark' is described here as 'mistery', but it is in fact a 'horror' series. Apart from that, the soundtrack is overused. Through the whole episode there is some creepy music being played, even in the most simple dialoges. It's almost like the laughing track in those sitcoms, trying to force you to laugh even when there's no joke. After a while the music doesn't make you feel anything different anymore, because it's always there. The effect is lost.

The pictures are quite dark, I must say it's even hard to see what's going on sometimes, but I didn't expect anything different from a series named 'Dark'.

The storyline seems to be very interesting, but the 'scary' scenes and unecessary creepy music in every single scene makes it unwatchable for me.

Chance (2016–2017)
3/10
Weak plot
15 November 2016
I had read some good comments about this series, so I decided to give it a chance. I've only watched two episodes, but the history makes no sense until now.

Chance is psychiatrist, that gets involved with one of his patients, for absolutely no reasonable motivation. He finds out her husband is somehow a dangerous man, and would possibly kill her, so he tries to save this woman. Does she want to be saved? Probably not, if she did, she would probably just leave the husband. Did he know her previously? No. Does he have reasons to care about her? No. So, at the second episode, the husband, again for no reason, threatens Chance's life. Does chance give up and go back to his life? No, cause of course it's better to risk his own life for a completely stranger.

As if that was not enough, he finds a batman-like friend, that again, for no reasonable motivation fights criminals.

The pace is really slow, and the episodes are filled with meaningless dialogues that add nothing to the story.

The story seems to make no sense at all. They just created a random situation, and wrote this series from there.
