Awakening kindness
7 May 2022
Thanks to watching such films, "kindness" awakens, you remember that you are a human and should be humane.

Today, in our daily race for comfort, earnings, survival, we do not look around, we do not look at ourselves from the side, just like racehorses - only forward, towards the goal. It seems to be just a story of a girl, a lion cub and a wolf cub, but in fact a modern reading of parables about care, fidelity, love.

A good, kind film, one that is being made less and less often.

Make movies, not politics!
24 July 2020
The case, of course, is not unique, but to let the good potential of the prequel to the legends of King Arthur go down the drain is a really hard job. Basically, the recipe is simple enough - it's a jumble of garbage. Take a template from there, copy an idea from here, watch the plot moves there, pull pieces of stories from everywhere and create a patchwork quilt. Bright, colorful, but with rotten threads, everything falls apart on the go. I will not touch upon the issue of authenticity and compliance with any temporal parallels any more. This story is not a prequel, and not even a free arrangement of legends, but an independent and completely side story. And further. I understand the need for producers to do everything politically correct and tolerant, but this is already overstepping any boundaries. Filmmakers have turned off logic and common sense, and create their creations so as not to offend someone, because every race, color, nationality matters, and everyone can complain, sue, or arrange a boycott. I miss the times when films and TV series were made for the viewer, and not to please critics and public opinion.

Just a good movie
8 June 2020
I did not try to look for references to conspiracy theories and real analogies, I just watched a movie and was delighted. The authors managed in a new, very original and fresh way to beat a rather hackneyed topic. There were similar feelings after watching The Cabin in the Woods: it seems to be a banal plot, but in the end something exciting and extraordinary. In this case, the actresses of the two main roles made up a magnificent tandem, which turned everything upside down. Great movie.

The Outpost (2018–2021)

Copy-paste, templates and bad taste.
27 October 2018
Copying the masters of the fantasy genre occasionally brings quite readable and watchable results. But "The Outpost" is not the case. Almost every scene is a copy of the original source of fantasy, the Lord of the Rings, and later copies, such as The Sword of Truth, The Shannara Chronicles, and other... The acting game of young characters who are obliged to carry on themselves the main intrigue - does not hold water. Aged actors are trying to work out their bread, but they are not the main ones here, so their efforts are dissipated like smoke. Directing? Do not tell my slippers. The level is about the same as in a school play, but in schools you can find more talented ones. Combat choreography, special effects, scenery, uniforms - everything is secondary. It is clear that it is very difficult to invent something new in this direction where geniuses reign, but ... Working with fantasy material requires love and immersion into, into the atmosphere, but there are not, not a bit... The one-time project, without a bit of love. It's a pity.
