Your occupation with high income is essential. Providing expensive clothes with designer labels , night life, bars with spirits and music , trips to Maldives , Mexico Bay , calm beaches of Africa by plane or liners , even by high speed catamaran without considering seasonal restrictions , open air concerts, opera , theater , all exclusive accesses which you will feel personally special , heavily depend on money. Spend money , feel better. You are only someone if you have money. JM , a Japanese consumer living an ultramodern lifestyle around the steel and glass mammoths of Tokyo, has a desire to buy a Citroen DS. He finds one in Australia via internet. He takes the flight down only to find which he has not met at the airport. He goes to the house where he thinks the owner lives only to find a red-haired blind girl, BG. The car is there in perfect condition , but owner not. However , BG knows where he is. Optimistically, only five days away. The Citroen DS is a much-loved car. It was also breathtakingly beautiful. It was the epiphany of technological and design. DS was one of the final nominees for Car of the Century. Therefor it became a part of contemporary mythology. Both JM and BG live blinkered lives. BG in an obvious sense , and JM in the sense that he leads this materialistic must-have lifestyle. He even buys the latest snorkeling equipment even though he only wears it around his small apartment by dreaming. The appeal of the car for JM was as a possession that he can collect. It instead provides a catalyst for JM & BG to break away and redeem themselves from the closed off , blinkered lifestyles they live to find atonement and their true nature. The film has wonderful vivid, unreal colors. This fits since the two leads have shut themselves off with painful souls and away from the real world when they journey into the spectacular but harsh landscape. P.S. Film based on C.L' s 18 days road trip by 4x4 car. There are two important locations : Lighthning Ridge (for The Goddess of 1967) and White Cliffs ( for The Mechanical Bird-This film is not appeared yet.)

Cate Blanchett's Talent
15 November 2017
When we watch Julian Rosefeldt's ''Manifesto'', 2015 with Cate Blanchett, we were expecting that we will find a different way of filming. Director , a German artist and film maker, - https://www.julianrosefeldt.com - highlights different manifestos ranging from Dada to Flux , including Lars von Trier's Dogme 95 rules for filmmaking under 13 different characters with Cate Blanchett' s superior performance. However, film is not so bright for Cate Blanchett after her two important works : Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, 2013 and Todd Haynes' Carol, 2015. After listening 13 different characters' speech , I remembered Leos Carax' s Holly Motors , 2012 with Denis Lavant. Directors are trying to show different aspects of their view. Meantime , a new film in the critics of art, Ruben Östlund' s the Square , 2017 is worth to thinking about.

Emma Thompson - Anthony Hopkins
5 November 2017
Dir. James Ivory-Pro. Ismail Merchant' s excellent work Howards End , 1992 with Emma Thompson-Anthony Hopkins is adapted from novel of E.M.Foster.

The following year, 1993 , we see another gorgeous performance , the Remains of the Day with same people. This time adaptation is from Kazuo Ishiguro ' s novel. Writer was awarded Nobel Literature Price in 2017.

Recently , we heart that a new co-operation with Emma Thompson- Anthony Hopkins is on the way : King Lear, 2018. This time , director is Richard Eyre.

P.S. Two important adaptation by James Ivory : A Room with a view (E.M.Foster), 1985 and Golden Bowl (Henry James), 2000.

Two additional adaptation info. : A Passage to India(E.M.Foster) by David Lean , 1984 and Washington Square(Henry James) by Agnieszka Holland , 1997.

Above Clouds

When I listen Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ' s Clarinet concerto in A major, K. 622 - Adagio - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjzf_cWzlp8 - I realized that director Sydney Pollack' s film Out of Africa, 1985 , which tells Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke (1885-1962)' s life is actually telling highly solid an admirable dream.

P.S. http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Karen_Blixen

S.Pollack(1934-2008)' s major work:They Shoot Horses, Don't

They? , 1969

Lost Script
11 October 2017
When I watch Emir Kustirica' s last film ''On The Milky Road'' with Monica Bellucci , 2016 , I realize that the director is far away from "Do You Remember Dolly Bell?" , 1981 and "When Father Was Away on Business" , 1985 for good. And there is no return to those old days. I am in deep sorrow on behalf of creative and naive Balkan cinema forever.

Those splendid days will never come back. The director is falling like a heavy stone since ''Underground'' , 1995. Even Monica Bellucci is not able to rescue this old guy.

Lovely
10 October 2017
Sally Potter' s last film ''The Part'' , 2017 with excellent casting is not too bad. We have not seen a new and important work since Orlando , 1992. The Tango Lesson , 1997 was related to her dance ambition and The Man Who Cried , 2000 needs few lesson about gypsy community from Tony Gatlif ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0309697/ ) Rage , 2009 was like radio program. Ginger & Rose , 2012 was pretty good.

Her last work ''The Party'' in a house is ultimate theater with excellent feminist cast. Two American actresses Patricia Clarkson and Emily Mortimer - personally , Frances McDormand is missing - and one Anglo-Francis actress Kristin Scott Thomas - personally Charlotte Rampling is missing - were gorgeous. Script is gimcrack.

Expecting a better film next time from unique British female film director.

Not so bright
7 October 2017
More and more Sofia Coppola is getting worse after ''Lost in Translation, 2003'' which is her brightest directing. Instead of using her own talent - I am nor so sure what they are , except her father' s money - , she prefers using Nicole Kidman' s acting talent. Kidman is already stuck her two important performances : Margot at the Wedding , 2007 and Stoker , 2013. What can we expect from both ladies more? I think calm retirement plan with lovely kids.
