Psycho II (1983)
My favorite of the series
I love this film.
Plot: Taking place over 20 years after the events of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho it follows Norman Bates who has served his sentence. He moves back into his and tries to start a normal life. He soon begins to have visions of his Mother and people begin to die and disappear.
Now I'll get a lot of flack for this but I never really cared that much for the Original Psycho. But I do have a tremendous respect for it. But this film I love, now when I was a child Psycho 4 was my fave but I have since moved on from that. I bought the DVD triple of the latter Psychos in 2010 and I watched them in one night. Instantly I fell in love with this film. Tom Holland the director of two of my favorite movies Child's Play and Fright Night wrote this...He did a terrific job. I love the cast in this film, like Robert Loggia, Dennis Franz and Meg Tilly (who is very hot). Anthony Perkins played good at being a seemingly cured Norman Bates.
All together you would love this I hope you do.
Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror (1998)
A Cast of Washed Ups and Eva Mendes
Plot: A car full of people driving on the back roads with ashes of a dead friend crashes in the hell of the cornfields. The towns Sheriff is Black Caesar aka Fred Williamson. The bartender is Jason Voorhees or better known as No-Neck Hodder. Even Grasshopper from Kung-Fu is on there. And that (thing)known as Alexis Arquette.
As I have make mention before I hate COTC III: Corn in Chicago. And this is pretty good. My only gripes is that big eared boy from Kindergarten Cop he is just an annoyance..He's ugly and he's well Ugly.
So if you hate Children of the Corn III then you love Children of the Corn V: Fields of terror
Children of the Corn: The Gathering (1996)
Better than 3
When children in a town mysteriously get high fevers...blah blah Naomi Watts is in this and shes hot. The film is a big improvement over COTC III: Urban Harvest or as I like to call Children of the Corn III: Trying to be Hip.
This film is pretty creepy and I always remember seeing the previews for it when I was a child before Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers which is an awful in & out. It's one of the few COTC films that I remember renting in video stores along with COTC II. I developed a crush on Naomi Watts and wanted to see her in more things and later on she became the Scream Queen for Classy Horror films I never understood why all 90's films have the same sideways camera angle but hopefully I'm not the only one who has noticed this.
Children of the Corn (1984)
I watched from behind the rows
The 1st film in the Children of the Corn series. Starring Linda Hamilton who is pretty hot in this flick...at least to me.
Plot is pretty simple. We have a town of children who kill all their parents. Many years later a couple driving the back roads of Nebraska when they accidentally hit a child. They of course try to find help in nearby Gatlin (the town with no adults). Well all hell breaks loose and the leading man has to find Linda Hamilton who was taken hostage by that Outlander guy who betrayed Isaac.
Pretty good 80's film. Probably one of the best Stephen King films although he doesn't like it. I mean what does it take to please Stephen King? I mean he gripes about practically everything. But it's a good flick and I would appreciate that you watch before I sacrifice you
Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)
Urban Horse Garbage
Okay I really liked the 1st two installments of this series. But eventually you knew they would have to start making horrible sequels.
The film takes place in Chicago and two children from Gatlin, Nebraska were adopted to a family that lived in the Windy city. One named Joshua who was a dashing young man and the other was Eli a sort of Damien-esque child. Well Eli plants "Supernatural Corn". Long story short he practically hypnotizes all the children at his school and people die in graphic ways.
I had a lot of flaws with this flick of course. 1st was making it into the urban setting. 2nd was the characters. 3rd was Joshua and the black guy driving all the way back to Nebraska to get the bible of the corn. Then last but not least was the finale, it should've ended a lot of earlier. But instead they had to get a few more deaths in before the credits started to roll. And the sister of that one guy who was the love interest of Joshua was a doll at one moment. I understand low budget and all but seriously this was the 1990s.
Overall its not the worst Children of the Corn film but it isn't the best.
The Avengers (2012)
The Best Comic Book Movie Ever!!
OK as a child I grew up reading comics. Every weekend I would go to the book store where they sold these comics. I loved Marvel, they had the best heroes ever. But the Avengers was always my one favorites series. Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America as Earth's Mightiest Heroes in one comic together was a big deal. I always knew they would make this movie but I didn't know it would be such an epic film.
If you watched previous Marvel movies( Iron-Man 1 & 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger) you eagerly anticipated that these bigger than life characters would grace the screen and they finally did.
Well heres a summary for the film. Loki has returned to Earth to rule it. But he needs to get the Avengers out of his long hair. At first the Avengers don't really get along, they fight and bicker amongst themselves which is exactly what Loki wants. But once Loki opens up another dimension to destroy Earth, the Avengers Assemble in an epic battle.
Now everyone gave great performances but Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner stole the show much like his other side the Hulk did. The battles were great. The humor was pretty funny. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark was once again a high point in the film. I don't like how fans of Joss act like he is some sort of Demi-God but I have to give the man some credit for this film, he really outdid himself. But once the movie is over you have to grasp or pinch yourself because its that epic.
Skinned Alive (1990)
I like this one!
This is a film about a family who travels the country killing people and they make leather out of their skin. After their vehicle stalls they have to stay in a small town until it gets repaired where they continue to kill.
Most of the reviews I have read for this particular film have been mostly negative but I can honestly say that I like this film, it has good special effects for a cheap straight to video horror film. It is pretty funny as well. The locations in this film are amazing.
Major problems with this movie is that the dubbing is off and the editing is pretty terrible. The two main actresses are annoying but Scott Spiegels character is my favorite, who almost has an incest scene with his sister which is weird. Plus the characters I wanted to die didn't :( It may have horrible things wrong with it, but it is the type of movie that I like although others will see a problem with that but who cares..am I right?
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
The Final Chapter was the first Friday the 13th I ever watched.
The start of the film begins with a montage from the 1st 3 films and then we go to Higgins Haven where the conclusion to Part 3 happened. Jason is taken to a local hospital where he comes to life killing two. He heads back for Crystal Lake to cause more mayhem. We meet the Jarvis family (Tommy, Trish and Mrs. Jarvis) who are the typical family. Across the way a house is rented by partying teens. Also Robis in the area hunting Jason after his sister was killed in Part 2. Jason kills everyone until the conclusion in the Jarvis house.
First off this film is one of the best horror sequels ever. People would argue it's nothing more than a hack and slash film with dumb teenagers but this one actually deals with teen issues like a girl losing her virginity. At some moments it feels like a John Hughes styled movie until the deaths begin.
All the deaths in this film are very stylized and creative. Tom Savini once again outdid himself, Savini did his last good effects work on this film I believe. He teams up with Joseph Zito again who both worked on The Prowler together.
Ted White gives the best performance of the character ever. He was menacing and creepy. The scene where he breaks through the door is frightening yet cool. Harry Manfredini gave a terrific score. And this is actually one film I can Corey Feldman in.
For me this was the high point in the series. Jason was a villain and not the anti-hero he was in later films.
The Willies (1990)
A good gross-out for youngsters
The VHS culture of the 90's was still booming. As a child I would automatically travel to the horror section in my local video store, and I would be intrigued by various movies. But The Willies always seemed to interest me. After multiple viewings of this film I have grown quite fond of this film. The film begins with three boys in a tent trying to gross each out by telling urban legends, you know stories about a woman microwaving her dog and a woman eating a rat at a fried chicken restaurant. But then we get to the stories of the movie. The story is about a weirdo who has a fetish for collecting flies and the other story is about a kid who discovers a creep in his High School bathroom. Not really going into a lot about the stories cause you needs to watch. The film has it's moments of pure grossness and is filled with cameos by Clu Gulager and James Karen both from Return of the Living Dead (the film is directed by a star of that film as well), it also has a wink to The Goonies (in which Sean Astin stars). But if you are a fan of "Are you afraid of the Dark" and other type of Anthrology type stuff like that you'll most likely love The Willies. It is filled with great imagination and it has the right amount of cheese of a B-movie. Also after years of owning the film on VHS I never knew that it came with an alternate VHS slip cover so that is another plus to this amazing film.
