The Life of Lucky Cucumber (2009)
This movie was TERRIBLE!
Lucky Cucumber is a local "celebrity" who is known for many things, such as being "a man who would set another man on fire for a pizza," having had over 100 jobs and living in a cave. A couple of local filmmakers decide to take a government grant they were given and make a film about Lucky and his life. What ensues leads you deep into the world of a bizarre, dimwitted guy who lives with his cranky grandpa and awkwardly goes through life one weird day at a time.
The theory behind The Life of Lucky Cucumber seemed like a good idea. A quirky, off the wall comedy that will throw unexpected scenarios and dialogue at you from one minute to the next. Unfortunately, the follow through did not pan out as the writing was not really that funny. The acting left a little to be desired, where the movie itself left a LOT to be desired. And I'm all for actors writing scripts, but think these guys needed to stick to their day jobs.
Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! (2006)
Helps kids learn, not unbearable for adults!
My three year old loves this show, along with Dora, Diego and Max & Ruby. As a parent, this show covers my two favorite bases. It is not all that horrible to have to watch along with her. In fact, one day my infant son fell asleep in my arms whilst watching the show and I had to wait to see what was going to happen with the bird that stole all of Wubbzy's stuff.
Second criteria met is that it is educational. They play little ditties throughout the show that teach things about morals, etc. Also, the other day my daughter brought me a toy and said, "special delivery for you, Mommy." When I asked her where she learned it, she said Wow Wow Wubbzy.
It is well animated and a cute little show for your young child! (And a guilty pleasure for the older groups as well.)
Handy Manny (2006)
GREAT kids show!
I have a one year old who isn't interested in cartoons yet, but I occasionally turn on cartoons in hopes she'd pay attention. I turned on Handy Manny and she was not interested, but I watched all four episodes in a row! I love that it teaches Spanish and has good messages, plus it is entertaining! Not too much singing and doesn't make me want to gag watching it! I can't wait until they put it out on DVD! I also was surprised to find out Manny was voiced by Wilder Valderrama. At first I thought it sounded like Mark Wahlberg, that's why I looked it up. I also like the graphics- very easy to watch. They seem like the graphics from Veggie Tales.
They (2002)
Worst movie ever maybe!
This movie was retarded. I never figured out what "they" were, the acting was sad, and the end left me wondering why I wasted two hours of my life... don't waste yours! It wasn't scary whatsoever and all my husband could say was, "the movie sucks, but the chick has a nice tush." And did Wes Craven even participate in this movie?
