The Perfect Family (2021)

If you endure the first 15 minutes, the movie is going to reward you.

When the film begins, it seems that it is a comedy about a mother trying to ruin her son's relationship because she didn't like his girlfriend.

The son of a wealthy family falls in love with a girl that lives in a not so good neighborhood. When the son asks his parents to meet his girlfriend and her famiy, the parents realize that the girl isn't what they wish for their beloved son.

But.... the movie is so much more (!!!) than a mother-in-law fighting daughter-in-law parody.

Actually, the movie is not at all about the relationship of the son, rather than the discovery of the inner feelings of the people surrounding the couple, especially the mother.

It is a touching and emotional comedy with funny moments. Definitely worth watching.

Maestro (2022– )

Find the strength to live the LIFE you WANT !

Builds many characters with different stories, problems, likes and dislikes, that are all connected having the same wish: to find the strength to live the life the way they want.

The stories are parallel and connected, and include domestic violence, general verbal violence and suppressed characters, while fighting for love, life and honesty. Everything takes place in a small beautiful Greek island.

Great acting, great choice of the places, the music and overall a very nice production. I liked how it showed so many things of Greece: the islands, the music, the literature, the colors. In the casting is Haris Alexiou, a great Greek singer and composer, and is really exceptional as the grandmother!

What was a little weird though is that there are so many 'clever' characters that can understand everything that happens around so quickly. And there is so much anger. Music makes a little contrast with the anger, but the anger is too much, and it is quite exhausting sometimes.. There is not the appropriate balance through anger and storytelling.

All in all, it is a great production and it is worth the attention. There are some strong scenes with great music, and I really liked the scenes that happened only in the mind of the characters. Bravo for the so much confrontation.

Never Have I Ever (2020–2023)

Never have I ever ... SMILED so match in comedy, while becoming TEARY

Do not get it wrong! It is a really FUNNY series with MANY INTERESTING CHARACTERS. It has achieved to combine laughter with difficult situations, such as grief.

Devis, the teenager in the leading role, lost her father and she is trying to find her way through high school, with messy, complicated, yet quite adorable actions.

Personally, I got very emotional in some scenes, because I lost my father and the dialogs on some scenes were quite strong.

We need more of such series!! It is super funny without being any superficial..

1000 Miles from Christmas (2021)

Funny and Sweet Christmas Movie

I started watching it with little expectations, but after the first 20 minutes it really managed to engage me fully! Funny characters, nice plot, great morals and all in all, it had all the ingredients for a funny and sweet Christmas movie. It is an excellent choice for Christmas time!

Relax with a Christmas movie

Don Servando and his extended family travel to the beach to spend Christmas with daughter-in-law's aunt. The aunt, Doña Alicia, becomes Don Servando's ultimate enemy, while Don Servando the grumpy grandpa, tries to seize control of Christmas celebrations from the aunt.

A Christmas movie enjoyable and relaxing, that includes romance and family Christmas.

It is a nice movie for practicing Spanish language, too.

Life or Something Like It (2002)

Watchable movie

A young woman with successful career and a life that goes according to her plan, is informed by a prophet (poor homeless guy) that she will die in one week.

As a result she questions her life, and she tries to find the meaning in her meaningless life.

The story is good, as well as the dialogs.

The problem is that Angelina played the role in one-dimensional manner. Happy, angry, nuts, enthusiastic, miserable, all the same face in her acting.

All in all it is ok movie for casual watching.

I Care a Lot (2020)

Could have been really good Black Comedy, but.. it ended up to be quite strange !

The movie is about a ruthless woman who exploits elderly people, and makes money of them, until she ends up finding herself in an unexpected situation. The plot is really good and is offered for a really good movie and it is such a pity that this movie didn't meet the potentials it had!

In the first half of the movie there is emotional engagement: I felt angry, curious, sad and simultaneously a little hopeful. In the second half, the movie becomes dull and strange.

After having seen this movie I have the sense that it could have been a very good black comedy, because the plot and the general idea are really good !
