Sleepless (III) (2017)
5/10
A fine watch, nothing more.
19 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
Sleepless is rather generic and forgettable, even though it is a solid action-packed experience.

It never breaks ground or goes above and beyond and the separated father, kidnapped helpless son thing has always been tiresome. Though more importantly, the film never resonates or makes you care about anyone, nor does it have a particularly memorable scene that I can recall, I mean you're in a casino. McNairy does a fine job as the crazed bad guy however and Foxx and Monaghan suffice in lead roles. It's obvious from early on Harbour's character is dirty, don't think that's intended. A fine watch, nothing more.

Trust me, watch something else.
18 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
In Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead, five different criminals face imminent death after botching a job quite badly.

Horrible casting and a botched film. Not competently done or acted. I wanted to turn this off almost immediately after turning it on, because random nonsensical dialogue was being spoken, trying be like a Tarantino film, except this was vile unentertaining garbage and had no hope. Gabrielle Anwar certainly doesn't belong with this filth, sick sick people everywhere. Illogical nonsense, though I must admit I drifted in and out due to boredom and cringe, awful piece of "work."

2025 Premier League - W15 - Final - Dobey vs Aspinall.
17 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
Another unlikely Final matchup here. Aspinall an early break, Dobey breaks right back. Dobey misses and Aspinall breaks again, soon going up 4-1. Both with consecutive misses in the 6th-leg and Aspinall breaks to throw for the match. He comfortably wins it 6-1, for another king of the hill. Aspinall solidifying himself in the Finals, unless van Gerwen wins the night next week, who's yet to do so. Dobey with the higher average of 98 despite being handily beaten, but a woeful 8% on the doubles, Aspinall averaging 93 and 40% on the doubles. Aspinall four 180's to Dobey's three, with fifteen 100+ throws apiece.

Syd vs Carl, at the SCG.
16 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
Neither side sitting in the 8 at present, De Koning out for the Blues. The ground hit by rain, Cripps kicks the opener for Carlton. A lot of sloppy disposal and set-shot blunders, Warner bounces through the reply. Cripps kicks another from a stoppage, the Blues lead by 6 at quarter-time. Every player on the Sydney list must be injured to be playing some of these blokes. Heeney converts from the boundary. The Swans awful, lucky to be in it, but even it up. McKay goals on the angle, to have Carlton up 7 going into halftime. Heeney misses back to back opportunities, Curnow doesn't from distance. Warner converts though. Cleary hasn't done a positive thing all night, neither side looking worthy of Finals. Heeney misses again, the Blues lead by 5 at 3-quarter time. Grundy goals on the run from 50, Sydney's best passage of the game. Everything starting to go right for the Swans, Amartey converts, plays starting with Blakey and Warner. A crucial goal by Curnow, but Campbell with speed the instant reply. Heeney kicks the sealer, off a McKay dropped chest-mark, Sydney home by 16 points. The Swans dominated the hit-outs and +9 in the clearances, with more of the footy via handball. Carlton with 1 more inside 50's, for 10 less scoring shots. Chad Warner best afield, with 30 disposals, 630 metres gained, 2 assists and 2 goals. Wicks 20 disposals, 6 tackles and 9 intercepts. McCartin 14 disposals, 13 effective and 10 intercepts. Juliet, Naked (2018)

Draws you in.
15 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
In Juliet Naked, Annie is stuck in a long-term relationship with an obsessive fan of an obscure rocker. When the demo of the rocker's hit record from 25 years ago surfaces, it leads to a life-changing encounter.

Randomly turned this on and it drew me in. Has a strong cast, with a likeable Rose Byrne performance in particular. I may have missed the start and it's by no means a perfect film, but has a good infusion of music and a funny comedic close with O'Dowd to boot. A little surprised Annie heard Tucker say he left his baby in a public bathroom sink and continued to be interested in him however.

Gcs vs Haw, at TIO Stadium.
15 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
Moore cons the umpire as he often does for the opener for Hawthorn from the goal-square, Miller in his 200th kicks the reply. Walter a massive grab, but unfortunately misses. Humphrey though takes em on and slots it from 50. King converts from the angle, the Suns defenders reading it well. Ainsworth snaps through another, for 5 on the trot. Watson marks and converts from the boundary for Hawthorn, Gold Coast up 20 at quarter-time. Another unearned goal for the Hawks to start the 2nd from another acting job. Clohesy goals from outside 50 and Flanders immediately after right out of the middle. Watson a nice mark and converts on the angle, the sole Hawks contributor, keeping them in the match. He kicks another opportune goal from distance and Hawthorn with a flurry, cut the deficit to 14 going into halftime. Collins excellent, but the Hawks bring it back, before Ainsworth snaps a settler. Hardwick back to back goals to put Hawthorn in front going into 3-quarter time. Influential umpiring decisions all going to the Hawks, Swallow on as the sub goals right away in congestion though. Hawthorn get it back within a goal late, before Miller answers. Long a steady forward option all season for the Suns, settles for them. Chol a nice goal in traffic, but the Suns stand up and get the win, with forces against them. Gold Coast handily won the hit-outs and dominated the clearances +15, with more of the footy via handball and 10 more tackles applied. The inside 50's even however, for equal scoring shots, both teams with excellent conversion. Anderson best afield, with 35 disposals, 16 contested, 12 clearances, 10 inside 50's, 5 tackles, 865 metres gained, 3 assists and a goal. Collins 15 disposals and 11 intercepts. Rowell 29 disposals, 9 clearances, 5 inside 50's, 9 tackles and an assist. Powell 18 disposals, 17 effective, 8 intercepts and 572 metres gained. Long, Miller and Uwland good as well. For Hawthorn, Watson 12 disposals and 3 straight goals.

3. (Gcs) N. Anderson, 2. (Haw) N. Watson, 1. (Gcs) S. Collins.

Parasite (1982)

Watchable.
14 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
In Parasite, a doctor/scientist infected with a new strain of parasite ends up in a small desert town, trying to find a cure, in a post-apocalyptic USA,

As bad as almost everything is in this low-budget film, which I will proceed to mention, it's not without dissimilarity and intrigue.

Starting with an awful lead character and performance, who the audience perceives as an evil mad scientist for a large portion of the film and bad supporting characters. Punks sharing a shed for some reason, while Demi Moore's character has her own place, serving little purpose other than giving out lemons. The backstory pretty non-existent, probably for good reason.

R2G4 - Celtics @ Knicks.
13 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
New York up 2-1 in the series. White with multiple 3's early. Sick of people giving misinformation, the Celtics were a Championship team when the roster was assembled, not because they shot the most 3's. They had a team of all-NBA defenders and size, it's not like some innovative coaching move, any team can do it. Mazzulla made many blunders the previous Playoffs before they won it, which cost them. Shooting 3's is who the Celtics are however, but not why they're successful. Holiday's on-court leadership also a factor last year. When they lose it's generally because they shoot too many 3's, allowing an opponent in. Like there's a reason New York plays Robinson, who can't shoot at all. White hitting 4 of 4 from deep, despite this, the Knicks still with them. Tatum three 3's to end the 1st-term, Boston on a 12-0 run, up 11. New York starts the 2nd on a run themselves, before the Celtics kick it back out again. Towns like a whinging toddler, it's called defense, can't just run into people and go to the free-throw line like the regular season. The margin the same at the half, Boston up 11. The Knicks go on a 9-0 run, before another White 3. Tatum his third steal for the transition hoop. New York still right there, with Brunson answering every time, the Knicks even take a 3-point lead going into the last. The problem with the 3-style Boston plays is they don't put the other team in foul trouble or the penalty, they let the opposition off the hook and don't get easy points themselves. Bridges providing consistent points from the mid-range for New York, while Boston keeps shooting 3's. The Knicks pull away and Tatum settles for a quarter-court shot... Unfortunately the next play down unrelated, he goes off with serious injury and it's over for the Celtics. New York wins comfortably, taking a commanding 3-1 series lead. The Knicks shot much better from the field, Boston better from 3, with more production at the line. Both teams took care of the ball, New York +12 on the boards. The best game of Brunson's career, not being entirely cringe for once, with an efficient 39 points, 12 assists and 5 boards, just 1 turnover. Bridges 23 points, 7 boards and 4 steals. Towns an efficient 23 points and 11 boards, but 4 turnovers. Anunoby 20 points, no turnovers. Tatum an efficient 42 points, 8 boards, 4 steals and 2 blocks. White an efficient 23 points.

3. (Nyk) J. Brunson, 2. (Bos) J. Tatum, 1. (Nyk) M. Bridges.

They Who Dare (1954)
1/10
Yawn.
13 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
In They Who Dare, British commandos are sent to destroy a Luftwaffe airfield on a Greek island, during World War II.

Couldn't be more bored with this film. Dull characters, to annoying even, on a mission at a slow pace, stumbling and meandering enough to put you right to sleep. Nonsensical unintelligent dialogue throughout, with no effort to actually entertain or intrigue at any point. Other reviews say the same thing, but seem to rate it worthy of watching, which is entirely untrue. If you need to get up early in the morning, you should definitely put this film on, it will do the job for certain.

R2G4 - Cavs @ Pacers.
12 May 2025
Warning: Spoilers
Indiana up 2-1 in the series. Careless turnovers by both teams early, the Pacers go on a 9-0 run. Silly stoppages and reviews, floppers rewarded each time, having all that time to assess it, Mathurin ejected for nothing, awful. Indiana putting up 38 in the 1st-term, with a sizeable 15-point lead. They kick further away to start the 2nd, scoring in the paint at will, with mismatches on the regular. Cleveland struggling to score themselves as well, an absolute blowout as Turner knocks down three 3's to end the half, on a 17-0 run, the margin 41. Mitchell doesn't return and the Pacers comfortably take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. Indiana shot better from the field and 3, with the Cavs much more production at the line. Cleveland with more turnovers than assists, +4 on the boards. Siakam with an efficient 21 points, 9 of 10 from the field and 6 boards, just 1 turnover. Turner 20 points, 4 of 4 from deep and 7 boards, just 1 turnover. Topping 20 and 5 boards, off the bench.

3. (Ind) P. Siakam, 2. (Ind) M. Turner, 1. (Ind) O. Toppin.
