Convoy: War for the Atlantic (2009)
Britian become isolated in war world 2 and could of lost the war.
Im very surprised that this hasn't even reached 5 votes yet as I found it an intriguing and informative documentary on a part of World War 2, the convoys, which I'd never heard about.
This documentary with great reenactments and some actual clips, tells about the critical moments of the navel campaign and of a war which could of been lost for the English and the Americans. It also includes interviews with those in the navel part of the war.
I also really liked this documentary as they interviewed people from both sides of this war, so its a completely unbiased account.
Any individual who likes war documentaries, I think will love this four part war series which has been so well done and wasn't a boring war documentary as I do find some to be.
Hawken's Breed (1988)
I enjoyed it but it did have some faults
I thought this DVD was really going to be bad due to many of the reviews here but I ended up finding this film quite watchable so hence gave it a rating of 6.
It is a Western that one can just sit back and relax with.. no big long loud gun fights (they happen quite quick in this film, so if you like a lot of action, this isn't the film for you).
It's easy watching as you don't have to put any thought into anything. A film that one can watch and relax to when tired while in bed just before sleep or fall asleep to and then get up the next day and finish watching it. Someone commented they didn't like the music in it but I liked the peaceful music.
I do agree thou that there is some very bad acting in this film eg in one part there was someone with life threatening injury and his son had a bit of a smile/smirk on his face when the guy is talking about it and of wanting revenge.
I didn't at all mind the story line thou it was quite a typical one.
Worth a watch if you aren't watching with high expectation of action and just want to veg out in bed or on a sofa and relax to a western and can over look some faults.
The Sheltering Sky (1990)
It goes nowhere
I watched and watched this till it's end, waiting to be pulled into it, expecting it to improve. It never did thou and just left me feeling quite disappointed by the end as I believe this could of been a great movie especially with all the great scenery in it.
It didn't even draw me in enough, for me to feel any emotion at all, in what should of been very emotional scenes.
Im a person who hates Lord of the Rings as it seems to go on and on leaving me bored with plot.. this movie was similar as the plot just dragged on and seemed to go around in circles to me.
The most exciting part of this movie to me was seeing some white camels in it! (warning.. don't expect this movie to improve)
Lake Placid (1999)
Enjoyable DVD
Thou a horror of the kind which made me jump as I like a good horror movie to do, (it could of been more "Jaws" like thou) and just a couple of gore parts (Im not a fan of gore anyway), this movie I did find funny in places.
I loved the different characters in this movie which truly added to it. The interaction between the various characters was great. :)
Movie was predictable but I didn't find that an issue as it didn't bore me in any way due to the characters.
This easy to follow movie is certainly worth a watch, thou I don't understand why its not rated higher. I guess some don't like comedy and fun in their horror movies.
