The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Lackluster
This movie felt like a superhero movie and not in a good way. CGI felt worse than the original movie. I mean how can you do that after 23 years? I don't even want to mention the fight scenes which is basically Neo making an imaginary shield with a force field.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019)
Deteriorating Quality
I feel like when a season has more content, this series' quality deteriorates proportionally. They could've had so many good stories, but decided to spend an entire episode on Haas (or even worse Mazepin). No mention of the amazing defense of Alonso against Hamilton in Hungarian GP. Perez's Abu Dhabi defense got 30 seconds? After this season, I'll probably stop watching DTS. I am not getting anything interesting from this show.
I am keeping 8-star rating, because I really enjoyed the first two season's and decided watch F1 again after like 10 years. However, if you followed the entire 2021 season, you are not missing much by not watching the last season.
The Wire (2002)
Realism at its best
If you like realism on TV, this is the epitome of realism.
Tenet (2020)
Too complicated
I appreciate that Nolan tried something new and that's why I am giving a higher rating. However, the concept is very complicated and after a while you are lost. I thought they were trying to stop this guy going backwards in time and then they tried to stop him sending the codes to the past. I mean didn't he already achieved that? This is how much I comprehended in this movie.
Also, as a person who took thermodynamics in college the entropy explanation threw me off quite a lot. Explaining time travel by entropy is like saying if a car goes down a hill backwards in neutral, your fuel tank would fill up. It is that absurd.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Hated it
I am not a person that would easily give out a one star for a movie, but I genuinely hated this movie. I mean the cast is good and I love Peter Dinklage. However, I had this uneasy feeling of cringe throughout this movie. After all, we watch movies to be entertained and I didn't feel entertained at all.
Anelka: L'Incompris (2020)
Misunderstood
Coincidentally, I watched this right after I finished The Last Dance. Both documentaries covered successful athletes but there was also a lot of drama. Both men had similar personalities. I don't know how to put this, but when I watched MJ's story I saw a true team player. Whereas in this documentary I thought Anelka was a capricious athlete always clashing with his managers. I do get the part that he was unfairly treated for 2010 World Cup scandal, but overall I just thought some of his behavior was a bit too much for a team player.
Besides this, story line is a bit dull and superficial. Most of the documentary is like I did this and that. I didn't deserve this etc. There was nothing much about emotions of players in a team environment or some sort of a connection.
Everything set aside, I did enjoyed watching him play back in the day. I think this documentary doesn't make the cut for him. Also, if you haven't watched The Last Dance I strongly recommend it.
History 101 (2020)
Oversimplified
I thought this series would be a holistic perspective towards history. You cannot just say "History 101" and talk about 20th and 21st century topics.
Also, I feel like they tried to simplify topics a lot more then they should. There are some information that are missing. Not mentioning about Yom Kippur War for First Oil Shock is a huge mistake. They say demand dropped in 1980s, but they don't mention why.
Chernobyl disaster was due to a faulty reactor design. Control rods just not merely stuck in the process. It looks like they are just trying to say that these disaster can happen any time, but they don't. The amount of security features in a nuclear reactor is immense. I know this because I worked in energy sector for some time.
One last thing, they talk a lot about costs. These dollar amounts are sometimes inflation adjusted and sometimes they are not. You cannot know this unless you don't do you research, because they don't mention in the series.
Overall, it does feel like this series is way too simplified and the facts are skewed to sensationalize the facts they prefer. If you're not interested in 20th century history or politics this is definitely not your show to watch.
