Clerks III (2022)
A Disappointing Departure from Kevin Smith's Legacy
As a long-time fan of Kevin Smith's work, it pains me to say that Clerks 3 falls far short of the expectations set by its predecessors. The movie, unfortunately, fails to capture the charm and wit that made Clerks and Clerks 2 cult classics in the world of independent cinema.
One of the most glaring issues with Clerks 3 is its lackluster humor. Unlike the sharp and irreverent comedy that defined the earlier films, this installment seems to rely on tired jokes and recycled gags that fall flat. The witty dialogue that was a trademark of the series feels forced and unnatural, leaving the audience yearning for the clever banter that characterized the original Clerks.
The film also struggles with pacing, making it an overall tedious experience. The narrative lacks the dynamic energy that was present in the first two films, with scenes dragging on without contributing much to the overall plot. It's as if the movie is desperately trying to recapture the magic of its predecessors but ends up feeling like a mere imitation rather than a genuine continuation of the Clerks legacy.
Furthermore, the characters, once relatable and endearing, now come across as caricatures of their former selves. The charm of Dante and Randal's banter is overshadowed by forced attempts at nostalgia, making it difficult to connect with the characters on a meaningful level. The addition of new characters feels forced and fails to inject fresh life into the franchise.
In comparison to the raw and authentic feel of the original Clerks, Clerks 3 appears to be a diluted version of what made the series great. The essence of Smith's unique directorial voice seems lost, replaced by a sense of trying too hard to recapture past glory.
In conclusion, Clerks 3 is a disappointing entry in Kevin Smith's filmography. While it's inevitable that sequels may not always live up to the brilliance of their predecessors, this installment falls particularly short. Fans of the original Clerks and Clerks 2 may find themselves longing for the genuine humor and authenticity that defined those films, making Clerks 3 a regrettable departure from the legacy that once was.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
terrible
Don't waste your time and money on this one.
The kid sees a flying object and reacts like it's regular thing, nothing special.
Ghosts, huh? A big deal, give me that plasma gun I'm going to catch'em without any experience. It should be simple, right?
There is no story, it is just a random stuff put together.
It lasts 2 hours. It can be easily edited to 25 minutes without any harm to the story.
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Just terrible
If you like the original tv series then don't waste your time on this movie.
