Tell Me a Creepy Story (2023)
The worst I've ever seen.
This is without doubt one of the worst films I've ever seen.
Truly disgusting, not in a good horror way, but in a vile and sickening way.
How this content ever made it past the planning phase I really can't figure.
Fair warning, there is loads of close up eating and disgusting vile eating noises throughout the first two stories. Truly, it made me feel sick. I didn't get beyond a few minutes into the second story, turned it off and won't be finishing it.
My advice, is that, you should watch anything other than these short stories. There isn't a single thing that redeems this collection of stories.
If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Full Circle (2023)
What is going on with the camera work?
This is ruined by the inexplicable shaking camera work.
Some scenes are normal, then it suddenly seems like and earth quake has struck and the footage is all over the place, literally stomach turning. Truly awful.
Story and performance wise its good but sadly its just hard work to watch without feeling like you're on a boat on rough seas.
A lot of the dialogue feels a bit wooden and forced.
I found my attention wondering for a lot of the first episode.
With the wealth of content out there, unfortunately, there really isn't anything to recommend Full Circle over any of the other much slicker and gripping series out there.
Six Four (2023)
A very frustrating watch
The premise was good, the cast should have been good but unfortunately it falls flat.
Most of the screen time is spent uselessly wondering around, or sat at a desk not really achieving much other than being lied to over and over again.
I found the speed at which life long betrayals were forgiven totally unrealistic. The characters have no consistency in their behaviour, apart from the leading male role, being that of a door mat that gets repeatedly stamped on.
It's such a waste of an opportunity, what could have been a great series, barely manages to be average.
On the bright side, there's only four episodes, and if you've nothing else to watch you may as well give it a go. Turn this on and your brain off and you'll get through it.
Nova Vita (2021)
Wow, the acting is seriously bad!
Everyone in this should be ashamed.
Every performance delivered through the series is painful to watch.
The story itself isn't bad, it's actually clever, though it does strike me as a rip off from a few order films and programmes. (Total Recall but not in space).
I still can't understand why some of the actors were chose and how they would ever have passes an audition. I wonder what was turned down for this cast to be the best choice!
As something mindless to have on in the background it's probably OK but anything more you'll just be distracted by the terrible acting and most likely give up after an episode or two.
The Rig (2023)
Worth a watch
Generally the tension and suspense throughout The Rig makes for gripping viewing. In the series is pretty good. There is some disappointing aspects though, Owen Teale and his character are hard to watch. His scenes felt far fetched and over acted to me. As far as the story goes, I can't get past the feeling someone would have knocked him out or locked him up after he first announced the rig closure to everyone. Instead he was allowed, with no explanation, to roam around causing havoc. Despite how much watching Owen Teale got on my nerves it wasn't enough to avoid the series altogether.
There's lots of suspense, you don't really know what's going on but this is a good thing, it'll keep you wanting to know more.
I believe the series should be categorised as sci-fi, the drama, thriller, mystery classification is a bit misleading as the sci-fi element is very heavy and present from the start.
Overall, I'd say, give The Rig a go. Ignore Owen Teale by focusing on some of the other strong performances.
Treason (2022)
The worst kind of infuriating rubbish
This is completley and utterly infuriating to watch.
The underlying theme of the entire series is that MI6 is completely incompetent, while the CIA is one step ahead of everyone.
I genuinely don't believe that so many people inside the UK intelligence community could be so corrupt and incompetent, maybe I'm just naive.
I'm shocked that Tracy Ifeachor isn't fed up with playing the same souless, emotionless, bitch she seems to play in everything.
There's not much to redeem the series unfortunately, other than the fact it's blessedly short so if you do commit to watching it, you won't have to suffer for long.
Warrior Nun (2020)
Ruined by William Miller
I loved the first season, the second is single handedly ruined by William Miller. He is the worst actor to ever be cast.
Not just in this show, but EVER.
He is so unbelievably bad it made me give up on the series with 3 episodes to go. He is beyond painful to watch, clearly acting ability wasnt important for his casting.
The writing is also a mess this season, the cast on the 'good side' go from blunder to blunder in what I guess is supposed to be suspense thats just translates in TV that's frustrating to watch.
Nothing goes the way of it should, everything is a set back. If you enjoy the heroes of the story being beaten for an entire season then this is probably for you.
For me this is a horrible, frustrating and pointless TV show, in no way entertaining. Such a shame after how good the first season was.
The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself (2022)
Really, really, bad
Firstly, the casting of Paul Ready was simply awful, by far the biggest contribution to just how awful this series is to watch. I can't think of a less pathetic villain, most of the time he is utterly pathetic to watch.
The second issue is Isobel Jesper Jones, her utterly vile character is to the point of being impossible to watch.
The predictable training montages shows the hero being beaten to a pulp over and over, this is somehow supposed to pass on technique and skill without any actual instructions. This makes for very aggravating viewing, watching someone fail again and again isn't entertainment. Nathan doesn't get any better, he spend the entire series being beaten, tortured and poisoned. Utterly useless.
Lastly the Nathan's dad is described as so powerful there really would be no point even trying to fight, obviously they had to make him sound scary but I think they went too far.
It made the cause of the 'good' guys sound utterly pointless.
The Ex-Wife (2022)
Absolutely ridiculous
This is such utter rubbish.
There's no realism in the series at all. None.
When it comes to parental rights, money alone doesn't mean you will get to keep the kids. Money doesn't mean you can just take away someone else's biological child, the legal system just doesn't work like that. It's also really difficult to make the case that someone is an unfit parent, bar substance abuse or violence to the child then access would likely be allowed.
Jack is a psychopath, that's one thing, but to me the real villain in this is Jen. She goes along with Jack, she seemed like a normal person that was just really hurt by a divorce but she gives in to Jack's plans agrees to play a major part in the kidnapping and going on the run with the baby. It seems so far fetched it's laughable.
Something has to be said for the way women are portrayed in this series. Jack is slim, the ease with which he is able to gaslight all the women around him is again, I'm disappointed to say, totally unbelievable. Of all the women I've ever known I can't think of a single one that wouldn't see through Jack in seconds and even if someone did fall for his 'charms' he'd only ever hurt them once and it'd be over. The female leads, namely Jen and Tasha, are portrayed as intelligent and confident adults, it seems in everyway, but when Jack whispers a few words to them they become instant morons. Maybe I'm being naive but I don't think people are this gullible.
The final scenes showing Jen and Jack's family getting to play the wounded parties just adds insult to injury, it all made for a very painful viewing experience.
I'd just avoid the series if I were you, unless you enjoy shouting at the TV in frustration.
House of the Dragon (2022)
I don't the high ratings
Firstly, this is nothing compared to Game of Thrones.
If you go into this expecting Game of Thrones then you'll be really disappointed, it's actually more a political drama. Being a political drama isn't in itself a bad thing but it does become too much, it's sick making to watch all the betrayals after a few episodes it does become dull.
No one is good no one is honourable, at least not for long, they are either murdered or seemingly forget they were ever honourable in the first place. I lost count of the amount of people who abandoned all of their principles seemingly with the changing of the breeze.
It should be highlighted that Olivia Cooke plays a truly disgusting character, completely vile in everyway. She plays it very well, too well, I liked her as an actor in the past but I'm afraid that will be tainted by just how disgusting she is in this.
I suppose this might be a fairly decent reflection of politics today, with all the backstabbing but without as much bloodshed, which as a thought is incredibly depressing.
The Watcher (2022)
So awful
I managed 4 episodes before giving up.
Utterly vile characters.
The teenager daughter accuses her dad off bring racist because he grounds her, ruins his reputation and its then just forgiven with zero consequences.
The wife instantly believes anyone but her husband on every point possible, also why is it only his responsibility to provide the money for that house when it was her demanding it all along.
It doesn't matter how it ends or who did it, while getting annoyed about how rubbish it is I realised I didn't care who was sending the stupid letters.
To be invested you have to care, none of the characters are in anyway likable.
In the Dark (2019)
Disgusting
There isn't a single redeemable character in the series but by far the worst is the lead.
She is selfish, nasty and dirty. Literally the worst person you can think of.
From start to finish Murphy barrels from life to life and ruins everything she touches seemingly oblivious to the hurt she causes and then wonders why she is so hated. The writing is truly terrible from a realism point of view, almost to the point of being farcical.
There is literally no way anyone could be this self centered and not have been called out on it by now.
Someone in her life would have already told her how horrible she is.
If you like being frustrated by terrible writing and childish clues and leads then give this season a try, if not I'd recommend avoiding it.
The Suspect (2022)
Terrible, clichéd lazy writing.
The writing is utter rubbish.
The acting is OK, they do the best with the utter rubbish they have been given to portray.
I guess what really angers me is how unreal it all is, the Police do not arrest someone on murder charges without evidence.
It's a waste of resources that they don't have.
Investigators don't have tunnel vision for one suspect, they follow evidence. Yes they might get a bad feeling about a suspect but that's it, if there isn't evidence they would move on and keep digging.
The lack of realism means I've wasted my time watching the first two episodes, I won't waste anymore time.
I suggest finding something else to watch.
The Secrets She Keeps (2020)
Just watch season 1
Season 1 is good.
Season 2 is awful.
Just watch the first season, season 2 is awful, feels like a completely different series.
There isn't a single likeable character left after things change in season 2 meaning you really don't care enough about anyone to be invested in their future.
Where I wanted things to workout for some characters in season 1 I don't care what happens to them now because they are all evil, selfish and disgusting people.
For All Mankind (2019)
Painful to watch at times
Only gave this 3 stars because when the space scenes happen they are good and have some tension but unfortunately not a single character is likeable.
The characters seem to change from episode to episode, changing massively on a whim.
I had high hopes considering the skill of the cast but unfortunately its incredibly disappointing.
I should have left the series at the end of season 2 and I might have given this 5 stars.
Hinterland (2013)
Ruined by internal investigation rubbish
I am so disappointed that Hinterland has given in and from season 2 on they have introduced an internal investigation story line.
EVERY detective series seems to fall into this same old trap, as if viewers want to see some vindictive internal investigation officer have tunnel vision for getting the lead character up on charges. It makes no sense to me that this story is everywhere. I think its sloppy, lazy writing and unfortunately it's ruined an otherwise very strong series.
Kung Fu (2021)
Wow this is so bad
The first season was ok but now its just painful to watch.
The acting is truly terrible, how the crew watched and thought this was good is beyond me.
Special mention has to go to Kee Chan and Ludi Lin, their performances were astoundingly bad, even among all the other abysmal deliveries.
Men (2022)
Strange for the sake of it, disgusting because it could be. All adds up to a mess.
What a waste.
Men is an unfathomable, in places unwatchable mess of a film. The 'story' was so none existent the first hour was pointless wandering.
The last 30 minutes was just disgusting. I don't mind gore when it has a point, in Men there was no point at all, simply added because it could be.
I cannot recommend this to anyone, I don't see how anyone will be enriched or better for having seen this film.
Outer Range (2022)
Terrible
Pointless, convoluted, rambling, self indulgent rubbish.
I am so disappointed by Outer Range.
Why the writers/directors decided to make Imogen Poots and Lewis Pullman's characters kiss in such a vile and sick making way is beyond me. The string of spit between them each time they kiss and pull away is utterly disgusting.
Avoid this or waste 8 hours of your life.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Sorry If It Got Weird for You (2022)
Disgusting
The entire episode is disgusting to watch.
The show thinks its helping victims, it's not, if anything I would think its stopping more women from coming forward in case what's portrayed in the show happens to them.
The fact the result works in the end is irrelevant Going through the court proceedings for most, already traumatised victims, would be too much. Especially with the vile lawyer character played by Julian Elijah Martinez using every trick to victim blame possible.
Suspicion (2022)
Unbelievably stupid in everyway
Everything about Suspicion sounded good when I read the synopsis, that's where the good stops I'm afraid.
The characters are paper thin, and the plot is beyond ridiculous.
Firstly, the idea that British police would arrest 4 citizens on the strength of them being in the same hotel as someone that was kidnapped in America is laughable. During the first two episodes not a single bit of evidence is given in any of the interviews, most of it you wouldn't even class as circumstantial yet the portray it as solid convictable evidence.
The FBI agent barreling his way around and taking over interviews is so frustrating it's impossible to watch. Not a single thought has gone into realism, it's as if someone has heard something third hand about the UK and then exaggerated it 10 fold and written it into the show. At one point some suspects are released and they show the police tracking them with millions of live cameras, even down to live feeds from black cabs. Yes, the UK has lots of surveillance, more than anywhere in the world, but it's just stupid how far they take it.
Clearly I won't be watching anymore of this.
The Responder (2022)
Disappointing
I realise everyone loves this and all the reviews are glowing but it was all let down by episode 5.
For some reason almost all the characters seemed to switch who they are and go in completely different directions than the previous 4 episodes with no real reasoning behind it.
I will say though, Martin Freeman is excellent. Warren Brown also delivers a great performance, i truly hated him by the end.
Bull: Family Matters (2022)
This is the most frustrating episode to watch so far
Geneva Carr's character is beyond aggravating to the point that the sound of her voice makes me cringe.
There is simply nothing believeable in the entire episode.
All this show proves is that the law means nothing and if you can pull tricks or con people you'll win, regardless of the law.
If the show wasn't ending I would be giving up.
Good Sam (2022)
Massively dissapointing
This is totally ruined by the pathetic character played by Jason Isaccs, he is truly disgusting and wouldn't keep his job for more than a day. He should have been fired about 10 times in each episode.
This series is beyond pathetic.
It's infuriating to watch and a complete waste of your time.
Seriously, watch anything else.
Showtrial (2021)
Disappointing
This is totally ruined by Sinéad Keenan's portrayal of the investigating officer. For some reason she played her role as OTT, smug, and completely tunnel visioned. Infact she seemed almost vindictive towards the accused at times, which I guess is the fault of the writing as much as Keensan's flawed delivery.
