Great book. Dorky movie.
5 July 2003
Okay, I'm an adult. And this is my favorite book. Still. But the movie, while interesting, doesn't even come close to doing the book justice. Too cartoonish. (It IS animated.) And the music was goofy as well. I'm not usually big into all-animated shows, but sometimes they are cool. (E.G. Wizards.) But when one reads a book first, and it becomes a part of you, animation just doesn't seem to make it. (The Lord of the Rings "trilogy" is a prime example. The original movies being animated; the later ones with real people are fine.) Fine for children, about fourth or fifth grade level; younger and the jokes will go over their heads. Adults should love the book, especially those with feelings just like Milo's.

One of my favorite movies!
25 April 2003
Or is it my favorite?!

Just a wholesome, thought-provoking expose on the weirdness of typical American city thinking and behavior, being brought to light by a naïve young man who has down-to-earth small-town common sense!

From the IMDB age-bracket reviews, it seems this movie might not appeal to the younger, especially girls under 18 (go figure).

A great Frank Capra-directed film. I also really like "You can't take it with you", but that film is more off-beat and goofy.

Enjoy this film when you're in the mood for something to remind you of "goodness". Whatever that is!
