Inception (2010)
Must watch once. The second time, it will blow you away.
In a genre less frequented by filmmakers, and even less frequented with critical and commercial successes- Nolan succeeds- and how! In bringing out his interpretation of dreams, he effectively converts the whims and fancies of a human mind onto the visual medium. Your habits become cities, your memories become people, your resistance to open up becomes a bunch of goons trying to pin you down. Like the Matrix, Total Recall etc, Nolan creates a world all by himself and lays down its rules. The only place where he could be caught napping would be if he does not go by his movie's rules. Unlikely ever that anyone would understand Nolan's interpretation of his creation.. much like how everyone could view a same scene from Inception in a different manner. Once, twice and more viewings of this movie- we would still be searching for Nolan's needle in the haystack.
This movie demands your attention for 2 and a half hours. Every frame, every second, every dialog, every detail shown on screen looks to represent something. A little long I would say, but two days after viewing Inception I still cannot seem to shrug it off. Still finding new ways of looking at the movie.
Inception will possess you, play with your mind, bend your thinking, squeeze dry your gray matter. If you have the brains for Nolan to screw with, go watch this.
Singaaravelan (1992)
Great watch, good humor!
Awesome watch. THE PERFECT MASALA MOVIE.
One of the best comedy tracks of all time. Never bores to watch it a second time. Koundamani sets the screen on fire. Kamal at his best, and great supporting acts all round from all the actors. Combines to give a total comedy-action-love-sentiment movie which was to be the precursor of the movies of today. (which frankly are awful compared to this one).
This movie's got heart. It never pretends to be what its not. It will genuinely lighten your mood and keep you in good spirits.
Not to say, its got awesome music by Ilayaraaja. Sags a bit towards the end, but the makers have done a good job stitching together a senseless story which entertains the audience to date.
