American Horror Story: Traitor (2018)
Disappointed
Possibly the worst episode of AHS yet. Wtf is going on? Coven part two with such disjointed context. Is there an episode that I'm missing? I'm a this a prequel to the other episodes? If so, why doesn't the information transfer? Were the previous episodes not real? Also, for an anthology show, why do you break that and make a continuation? I have so many questions and so few answers. Main question: why am I still watching this season? Apocalypse??? Not since the 3rd episode. Just call it Coven part two. The only way I can kind of tell the timeline is Michael's hair. Nothing else makes any sense.
Snowball Effect. The Story of Clerks (2004)
Wonderful doc about the movie that started Kevin Smith's career
Being a huge Kevin Smith fan, it is hard to not get all the information regarding everything he does. We all know how much he shares with the world via his Q and As, podcasts and tweets. When I was given the assignment to do a presentation on how he funded 'Clerks', I told my teacher that I could do the assignment from memory without doing research because I already knew. However, I decided to beef it up and looked for additional information. I got some good stuff off the internet but then was reminded of the documentary on the 'Clerks X' DVD. Being a DVD collector, I own so many that I forget to watch the bonus features. How I managed to never have seen this is beyond me.
Finally watched it and I was afraid I would have heard it all before. I was wrong! There was so much additional information that I hadn't heard before. Info from Mosier and other sources that I hadn't even heard their names before. Great watch! ESSENTIAL for any TRUE Kevin Smith fan.
Mae Day: The Crumbling of a Documentary (1992)
Mockumentary before they were really thing
I applaud this. Being a film student that has had to do a documentary, I didn't thoroughly enjoy it. Smith and Mosier had their subject disappear between pitching and shooting and were left without a project. They turned a disaster into an opportunity and made a fake documentary on the crumbling of their documentary. I think it was a great idea to both save their project and just a fairly original idea, especially for the time (1992).
If you are a Kevin Smith fan, you should check this out to see where he got his roots. Not that there is anything super special about it but it is a fun watch.
