Au service de la France (2015)
Offensive, dull, not funny to die
I am not familiar with French spy movies, but this is offensive, dull, blindly not funny. Tries to portrait incredibly stupid people proud to be French. However this is not the great French cinema. This is an insult to the French people. Nauseating.
Kengan Ashura (2019)
Martial arts one on one fighting anime worth watching
This anime has some great art and great action. Looks a bit like an older style anime with darker colours. The art style is unique. Hard to find anything original these days while keeping the traditions that make fighting anime good.
The Gambler (2014)
A must see with great philosophical elements for any guy who is currently "Lost in Translation"
First of all, to all the people giving it bad reviews, please study Mark Wahlberg movies a little and him as well. The man is a great human being who can actually admire someone else and he is also an honest individual who plays honest people. The movie does not try to make you feel better, you might actually feel jealous of the main character. You can not be happy without taking risks. The movie teaches many things and if it leaves you feeling angry or empty it is because you are missing those things too or because you are afraid to take a risk etc. It is a very philosophical movie- and with a very particular reality, uncomfortable reality for many people, previously brought up in No Pain No Gain. Mark Wahlberg simply participated in another great movie that brings out reality in USA with a great humanist feeling to it. He might not be the best actor, but this movie has a lot to say. If you think a little especially about what to do with your life you will learn a lot form this movie. You might learn that you are a miserable man or that if you continue the way you live you might never be happy and yes many people are better than you, find what you are good at and try to make your life good rather than trying to be something that you do not believe you can achieve. If you are special you know it. We need more people making movies like that so we can live in a society of 21st century that knows what life is and what reality is, and that is truly free.
Breathe In (2013)
Philosophical journey defying social boundaries
I would not classify this movie as a family drama since family is a small part of what I find essential about this picture. I decided to write about this movie simply because I find that it is incredibly pertinent for the times we live in. This movie will let you wonder about your perception of morality without grossing you out in any way. Heavy themes are boldly being dissected in front of our eyes with such absence of tension: a wonderful, unexpected journey with great technical quality. The main thing about this movie is the actual question of boundaries imposed by society and by life itself and how they limit us in our pursuit of happiness. Please make note of the different point of views society/personal. Both richness of theme and the hot young actresses make this movie worth your time and thought.
Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed (2012)
Here comes the bad nazzi, watch out
Saints and Soldiers surprised me by the one dimensional shabby characters involved in it and the Hollywood shabby portrayal of German soldiers as monsters. Some good shooting and movie techniques give it nice technical quality.
Clearly the concept of war is unclear to the writer even more than it is to me. If you wish to waste your time on an hour long political propaganda well this is your movie. Even a kid could see that these people never existed and never will exist- recommendation if you feel like watching something which does not involve too much thinking there is the move "6 bullets" with Van Damme. Personally the first ten minutes of this movie felt like an insult to my intelligence after that it gets funny. To the creator of this movie and to all the other Hollywood filmmakers: please stop wasting resources trying to change history and the awareness of young people. And by the way, if Germany had not attacked Russia all of Europe would have spoken German probably.
