Enjoyable but cheesy

Bogie's my favorite but this is not one of them. Worth seeing but really campy and over-acted, especially by Bogie.

He carries his body like he's got 2 broken elbows. Tobin and Davis give the best performances. Even Howard's stuff is a little over drawn. Good direction. Good atmosphere. Still worth seeing. Once. But the best Bogie is "The Big Sleep". Don Lessnau, Redford, Michigan

Worth watching but NOT their best

Enjoyable but the jokes are very predictable and you see them coming a mile away plus the lead actors are just too hammy. My favorite by far is THE BIG STORE followed by A DAY AT THE RACES. Don Lessnau, Redford, MI

Squish!

The writer alone should be tortured to death! Usually bad movies are at least funny but this is painful. Scotty and Sulu should not have beamed down for this turkey. They were particularly horrific. Wow, what a stinker! I'd like to meet the dumb jack-asses that put up the production money for this one. I could use some extra cash.

A masterpiece.

It is absolutely the very BEST portrait of our current culture that I have ever seen. The writer was decades ahead of his time in seeing through all the saccharin sentimentality and superficial razor thin concern most people display for the eternal greed and vanity that drives them. Hell, now we have parents of murdered children bumping into each other to get their faces on "Good Morning America." How tragically pathetic. Great movie.

A great film about seeking the truth
15 March 2003
One of the best ever made about the freedom to explore the universe and seek the real answers about God. It's a stunning portrayal of how closed mindedness and hatred cause so much harm and damage in the name of religion. Only 3 billion of the world's 6 billion people embrace a "Western" style view of God and no faith has any definite answers to the real big questions like "Why did God create the world" "What is God's true nature" or "If God created everything, including the Devil, why did the Creator produce so much evil as well as good." It's a great example of how dangerous it is when someone gets to a point of view that only his view of God is correct and everyone else should be hunted down and punished or killed.
