Joker (I) (2019)

Good movie but not Joker

This is not Batman's Joker. He is someone else. This is no interpretation but a deformation. He is rewritten for the lead actor. He could definitely be named something else. The film is good but as an old comics fan, I don't like this Joker idea. Joker is a brilliant character, not a 90 iq brute. He is genuinely mad and there is nothing genuine about this guy. I understand why the non-comic fans loved the film. People nowadays will have excuses for evil. Joker is supposed to be opposite of that. Pure evil with the ideal of total chaos. Laughing at the simplicity of society. Seeing it breaking down in front of fear. I was almost heart-broken when the film ended. But still good movie.

Just loose ends

Horrible storytelling, even worse characters. None of their stories comes to an end. No introduction to any character, no depth, nothing. Just gave 5 because there are even worse movies around, other wise intolerable. The things that should be filmed in a movie are explained by a character that we don't trust. The things that you can skip are filmed. Don't directors read the old books any longer and understand why they continue to be great over centuries? They tell stories in a very easy and accepted order. Don't they understand that stories need climax any longer? There is no tempo. The rising and declining of tempo is totally random. Every movie is quite like enema. Soulless, irritating.

Demolition (2015)

A real good movie

It is a very interesting movie in which all the characters have depth and are very well drawn. It is like reading a Camus book in two hours. You get deep into characters stories. I wasn't expecting much from this movie but it turned out to be one of the best movies I watched in years. I am not going to tell anything on the story for it is not a story to be told but it is one to be felt.

10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)

What exactly was this movie

The story starts fine, continues in a good claustrophobic atmosphere with borderline psychotic characters, almost comes to a pretty good final but then you are upset all over by a ridiculous turn in the story. Why would a director or manuscript writer do that? If you are okay with the final disappointment, you can well enjoy the movie but for me it is not okay. I consider how I feel after I spend two hours of my life to watch a movie and the taste in my mouth is like dirt. It's a pity that so much effort is spoiled by a bad final in a hopeless effort to shock the watchers.

Sicario (2015)

Lacks a lot but still good.

All criticism about Blunt's role, the superficial script, and the lack of a thrilling story are true but the movie is so well recorded that you don't realize them till the day after you watched it. You will say "Wow! What a good movie that was?" after you are finished with the movie. I think that is the important thing with a movie. Yes, it would be much better if Blunt's character hadn't ever existed in the story and plot focused on the Del Toro's character and went a little deeper into his story but I didn't think of it while watching. So, it's worth watching and very enjoyable.

Beynelmilel (2006)

For a long time after 1980, there has been a violent supression on the people of my suffering country. The governments which came after the military period all ruled my country as their successors. They were brutally militarist and fascist. The director of the movie is a director who has been sent to prison and been tortured on that evil period just because he had socialist ideals. They have been hunt down and slaughtered in the very dark corners and 3000 people haven't been found. A little Pinochet is the general who arrives the city at the end of the movie. The ignorant young people who believed that they were socialists but were only a band of stupid idealists were shown to be responsible of killings and massacres. This movie is a very good movie which tells the truth from a very far corner. Maybe because director is still afraid that he will face the same tortures again. But still he wants you to see who they were in fact. They were young men and women, 18-30 years old, grown up in the 60s and 70s with the belief that one man can change the whole world. All they did was listening to the communist international (turkish translation: beynelmilel), speak stupidly of how the world should be. That's a very sad story told in a very touching way. You laugh all through the movie but in the end there is a big fist in your throat which maybe for generations we will not be able to swallow. Thank you for a great movie like this.

Thirst (2009)

i didn't enjoy it

There must be a main plot which you can get from a movie to be able to follow it. There are some plots scattered around the story, which you cannot concentrate on. In some pieces you see family problems, somewhere around the movie there is friendship and betrayal. There is a plot, correct me if I am mistaken, such as the need to be bad to survive. Also maybe even you start with the very best of intentions, the consequences might bring you to evil of evils. As I said I tried a lot to make a main plot for the story but it's still unclear to me. In the "vengeance" we had it from the very beginning. Maybe Park tried to make something else. As a fan of Chan Woo Park movies, maybe my expectations were too high. I don't know. Still was a good movie with very disturbing scenes. I felt the most discomfort in the love and gambling scenes. They were the pieces which I will remember from this movie.

I haven't. It's just a waste of time. From time to time this Mehmet Ali Erbil man comes from nowhere with such stupid movies and takes away all the enthusiasm of the hard working cinema lovers. I definitely hate this man, his movies, and everything about him. Don't try to rationalize his behavior. What he does has no meaningful explanation. He is a very clever man who thinks that we are all stupid. He makes very easy money out of us. He is correct in some way. His narcissistic behavior is encouraged by the Turkish people. I don't believe that anybody at the age of 18 would laugh at him. For the rest he should be avoided.

Inglourious Basterds (2009)

I can't get the point of all those critics as if the movie was super. It was not. It couldn't be! Whatever you do with that script, it's bad. I love watching Tarantino movies because i believe he has a very dark sense of humor which continuously teases you and challenges your intelligence. But this time he really messed up I believe. This movie is a very very weak movie compared to his previous movies. I think the script is too weak for a WWII movie. Think about all the movies you watched on the WWII (Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful, etc.). They are all masterpieces and maybe the strongest movies of the directors. Don't get me as I compare "basterds" with these movies. This movie could be Tarantino's masterpiece, if he worked a little more seriously on it. I had great expectations before the movie. He would surprise and shock me with all the intelligent quotes and scenes. But his characters were so dumb that it just turned out to be a movie to insult Nazis and maybe all of us. The only two things that I liked about the movie was the card game in the basement and Hitler getting crazy as these "heroes" continued their operations.

District 9 (2009)

Not what I expected...

When I saw the name Peter Jackson, I decided that this would be a regular action movie full of sound and visual effects without any spark of intelligence in the script. It was a week later that somebody came to me and told me that the movie was amazing. It is definitely an amazing movie. When you look into the movie it is just not what it is presented in the movie. It's a criticism to the world and humanity. Ask yourself how greedy are you? And what can you or your governments do to have more diamonds, newer LCDs, and stronger weapons? In an other way of presentation the movie would be a a boring drama, but making a sci-fi is a very brilliant idea. I think it's worthy of a 10/10.

Nefes: Vatan Sagolsun (2009)

a good step for Turkish movie industry.

Nefes is one of the best Turkish movies ever made. After watching the movie you feel shrunken and do not want to live that day. Whole movie long you see forty 18-19 year old boys who feel proud and strong waiting for the invisible enemy to appear. Not very clear maybe but i believe there is some criticism for the organization of the Turkish Military Forces as non of these soldiers are actually soldiers in their real life. They are just barbers or workers. Some are boys who just graduated the high school. Very nice movie. I hope people outside Turkey also have a chance to watch it. I also liked it because unlike many of the previous movies on the same subject the director never tried to be populist. He is never on any side.
