Dune: Part Two (2024)
daenerys targaryen ?!? I must be missing it?
Dune Part One ranks in my top 10 of all time, so my anticipation for this film was sky-high.
The positives: The movie showcases incredible creativity and breathtaking visuals. The costume design is particularly striking, and the ensemble cast delivers standout performances across the board.
However, there are some drawbacks: Around the midway point, something felt off. Rebecca Ferguson and Timothy Chalamet's characters seemed to undergo a sudden transformation, almost as if they forgot who they were. While character development is expected, this shift felt jarring and poorly explained. The pacing also felt inconsistent, with moments dragging while others rushed by. This reminded me of the character arc of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, where her evolution felt sudden and unearned. Additionally, the desert setting dominates the film, creating a feeling of monotony throughout. What made Part One special seems lacking in Part Two; there's a sense of missing that extra touch or uniqueness.
Untold: The Rise and Fall of AND1 (2022)
It was promising until...
I feel like this could have been another 20 to 30 minutes longer. The backstory was really really good and I enjoyed the first hour of it. But there's such a small portion dedicated to this documentary of why and one really fell. We see multiple views, and at the same time some obvious answers yet they were never really expound it on.
When I watch this, I realized how important a figure to the company Tom was. When Tom said he was out, it says, though and 1 came to an end. And 1, as a company, overall was a house of cards or this case one person.
The story overall is inspiring. They literally started with nothing, had an idea, and went out and achieved it. Even with a major flop by signing Steph Marbury. But the organization lacked just that, organization.
Safeguard: An Electoral College Story (2020)
Great
It is very very hard to argue against the points that are being made in this documentary. Most of the reviews that are below a 5 must have muted the entire film. It is called pride and or ignorance if you can't see how the electoral college benefits all Americans. I appreciated they multi varied stance they took on defending the EC
American Gospel: Christ Alone (2018)
I can make Lebron look like a bad basketball player...
It kills me that we have NO idea the context that these pastors they BLAST are speaking in. Yes Joel osteen is false. Yes Ken Copeland is false. I get it, but there are others they don't even give a fair shake to....
What also gets on my nerves is that there is no consideration of the opposite of suffering that the Bible talks about. Jesus said greater works you will do than me. Ohhh they left that out though. What about this one "they will have life and have it abundantly". This documentary acts like we are supposed to be miserable and die for our faith or we are not Christians which in a weird way can be seen as a work. Talk about irony.
What I really enjoy about this documentary is that Jesus is exalted and the gospel is preached. Amen to that. But there is a side of joy, when we walk in or callin that we can obtain. There will be suffering but there will also be fruit
