Two and a Half Men: Twanging Your Magic Clanger (2010)
The jokes are all to familiar. The plot is unoriginal.
"Two and a Half Men" once again has racked up some major suckage points. The jokes are all to familiar. The plot is unoriginal (in fact, I had to check the info just to make sure it was not a repeat). Charlie looks drunk and stoned, yet he acts way too mature for his looks. Come on really, let's keep the comedy simple. Charlie's a drunken bastard, not a man of change. Alan keeps getting caught in this episode barbecuing alone. That plot is run regularly enough, there is no need to make a whole episode about it or show explicit pictures of him. "Two and a Half Men" has lost its zest. Please Chuck Lorre go get drunk, write the show! From my blog: http://e-daytv.blogspot.com/
Criminal Minds: Middle Man (2010)
"Criminal Minds" excellence in criminal sociology; It's absolutely fascinating
"Criminal Minds," my favorite show of all time just had an A+ episode. The writing by Rich Dunkle was spectacular. Stars Thomas Gibson and Matthew Gray Gubler lit up the screen along with great guest acting from former "Lizzie McGuire" co-star Jake Thomas. Of course the suspense that makes the show thrilling would not occur without the superb directing of Rob Spera.
What happened in this episode? Well, in this episode Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) and his team are called into Indiana to investigate the killings of several exotic dancers in cornfields. The team soon correctly profiles that there are three men behind these killings. What made this episode so fascinating was the new structure that exists between three killers versus the typical alpha male-subordinate relationship between two killers. The new criminal-analytical theory introduced in this episode has room for three killers. There is the dominate alpha personality who is older and has complete control and leadership over the rest of the group. Then there is the lieutenant who is the middle man (which is the name of the episode because this was the "protagnist" out of the three) who comes from a broken home, respects the dominate, and knows the land. Finally, there is the follower, the newest member who is not yet committed to the alpha and is therefore dispensable. In the words of Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) from an earlier episode "It's absolutely fascinating." "Criminal Minds" was superb this week. To further explore this theory in context view the video link below and fast forward to 2:50. New episodes of Criminal Minds are on Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS. "Criminal Minds" excellence in criminal sociology has made it my click-of-the-week. From My Blog: http://e-daytv.blogspot.com/
Two and a Half Men: The Crazy Bitch Gazette (2010)
"Two and a Half Men" stunk this week because of lack of originality
Oops, they did it again! "Two and a Half Men" has become the first show in e-day writing history (including unpublished entries dating back to September 2009) to be written about for the same position two weeks in a row. The two time loser that is "Two and a Half Men" sucked this week because of lack of originality. This plot is almost identical to episode four of season five when Charlie dumps his current girlfriend because of the possibility of losing Rose. What's even more embarrassing for the show is that both episodes were written by Chuck Lorre (this week is the third time in a row that a Chuck Lorre show has been named must-miss) and Lee Aronsohn and were directed by James Widdoes, yet not one of these three men realized the similarity and made an attempt to change it. The Lorre-Aronsohn comedy market is dipping into recession (Mike & Molly is also suffering), hopefully CBS will not lose its reputation of a network of great comedies because of these three knuckleheads. Modern Family: Unplugged (2010)
"Modern Family" was great:"Leave it to the gays to raise the first underachieving Asian."
"Modern Family" had another great episode, this past Wednesday called "Unplugged." As always, there was out-of-this-world writing from creator Christopher Lloyd. The comedy was brilliantly acted by many great actors led by Ed O'Neill.
What happened in this episode? Jay (Ed O'Neill) becomes suspicious of Gloria (Sofia Vergara) when the neighbor's dog goes missing since she has a history of killing things in the past. Best Joke: Jay remembers back to a time when Gloria killed a rat and left the head out for the other rats as a message. Also, Claire (Julie Bowen) decides that her family needs a week which Phil (Ty Burell) accidentally turns into a competition of who can stay unplugged for the longest promising the very attractive Haley (Sarah Hyland) a car if she wins. Best Joke: Claire tells Phil because he's addicted to fantasy football that he has almost no faith in him winning and stopping Haley from getting the car. Finally, Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) panics when he finds out that Lily may fall behind because all of her friends started preschool, so Mitch and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) try to find a good preschool. Best Joke of the Episode: Mitch says "Leave it to the gays to raise the first underachieving Asian." In the end, Gloria only gave away the dog to her cousin, Haley wins but won't be getting a car, and Lily gets into a good preschool.
Anyway, "Modern Family" was superb as usual this week. New episodes of "Modern Family" are on Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC. "Modern Family" is my click-of -the week.
