V. good!
25 February 2005
Just look at the average rating! Why is it so? Because this film truly deserves it. I've just watched it for the 2nd time. The 1st time I saw it several years ago and found it quite strange but kinda liked it. This time I started watching and it captured my attention till the very end. You won't find any breath-taking action here but somehow it keeps you watching. Probably this is the real art when you only see several actors, everything happens in the only house (big though ;) except for the beginning of the film where you can see some nature for a minute :) And still after watching this film you feel like you watched something great. I can not advise to watch it to "Speed" lovers although I believe each & every viewer can enjoy this film if he leaves his prejudices aside. Because in the beginning it's quite difficult to get into all the situation, the customs and so on. But when the film ends, you'll start to miss it all :)

A bit boring and not outstanding
20 December 2004
Warning: Spoilers
I find all the parts a bit boring kind of meditating and not having a common idea which seems to me pointless when you combine different miniatures into a film. For some reason, Tarantino's Four Rooms seem to be done better when the parts are united by the idea of the common hotel and alike characters. Also, the trumpet's role is dim - it only tries to tie the parts with trumpet music and doesn't appear in the film at all. The only part which I quite like comparing to others is the last Chinese one. It's a tragicomedy and it tries to make you laugh and cry at the same time and has a logical beginning & end. The whole set seemed to me unfinished and made off-hand.

Very nice'n'sweet movie

I was so surprised by reading so many negative comments about this movie! It's not so bad :) Maybe some ideas are boring and banal, but in common the movie is nice. Especially the last scenes in the bar/restaurant and in the Darcy's house - I absolutely love them! And I can say it absolutely honestly and impartially because I don't like Mel Gibson at all. But I started liking Helen Hunt from that movie :) Actually there are a lot of such films with the same plot and everything but this one is different because of the actors' performance and just the atmosphere. The song "Night and Day" is beautiful :)
